Running the car w/o intercooler pipes
I have the begi kit installed in ready but the IC pipes are not in place yet. I need to move the car 15 miles way to a different location and was wondering if there is any way to get it running. Can you simply attach a pipe from one end to another and drive without boost, or it will not work?

as long as there is a pipe connecting the maf (if you still have one) to the throttle body you should be able to leave the wastegate open and run it like the car normally would, right? but it would still be a risk running without an air filter and so forth:dunno:

It all depends on your engine management. If you're running a standalone, no problem. If you're running the stock ecu, you'll need the afm/maf in the intake path. Even if you can't get it perfectly sealed, the car should drive, but won't idle well if at all.

just buy a yard or two of dryer hose and hook it up temporary/ghetto style

I concur... some stiff dryer ducting. You could probably attach it to the manifold with duct tape if the drive is really that short... the compressor housing will still get fairly warm... use a hose clamp around the duct tape in case the "sticky" turns to goo.
DISCONNECT THE WASTEGATE ARM FROM THE FLAPPER! And take it real easy. Before you set off on your drive, let it sit in the driveway for 15 minutes and make sure nothing melts or goes bad. Drive it around the block nice and slow, and check everything again. Every couple miles, you could pull over and double check again. That's overkill though, I think you'll be fine. |
duct tape adhesive sucks when hot, use the tape to cover the junctions, but then secure it with worm clamps. Good luck if you use that dryer hose crap, it tears very easily.

Autozone carries some 3" air duct hose that will work. I used it on my turbo set up for a while ~$10.00
