Rx7 460's fitment

I just went to put my 460's in and noticed that the fitment is all fucked up. When tightening them down with the stock rail and stock bolts it leaves quite a few threads left on the bolt and the rail moves a lot. I also accidently broke one of the top spaces trying to tighten them down. I know tons of you have the rx7 injectors, what did ya'll do, remove the spacers or what?

ssmith 01-12-2010 06:38 PM

Mine fit perfectly like the stock ones...

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 06:40 PM

I don't under stand then why mine won't tighten down without breaking the spacers.

Vashthestampede 01-12-2010 06:40 PM

I feel like I vaguely remember a problem when installing mine. I'm not sure if it was the injectors that gave me the problem, or if it was the tunertoys fuel rail. I believe I did something about the spacers. I wish I wrote shit like that down.....

kotomile 01-12-2010 06:40 PM

What, no one told you about all of the dremeling you need to do to run the RX7 460s?

lol JK. They should fit exactly like stock. Are you sure you didn't lose the spacers? Both the ones that hold the pintle away from the injector's seat on the manifold and the spacers that the rail sits on?

gospeed81 01-12-2010 06:41 PM

Mine went in like Flynn.

Main thing is pushing the bottom O-ring all the way in. I tried to order replacements, and gave up after Oreilly's fucked up the order twice (one time they almost let me walk out with $200 worth of INJECTORS for $28).

I carefully pressed in my rock hard O-rings with a flat head, and the fuel rail then sat all the way down.

Not a single fuel or vac leak in nearly 20K miles.

Sounds like you're not getting all 4 injectors lined up correctly. If one is off, the rail won't tighten down.

Don't forget to use a little Vaseline or a dab of oil on the orings.

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 06:42 PM

Mine have both the caps on the end of the injector and the spacers on the other side...

So maybe the caps aren't going into the manifold?

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 06:59 PM

Looks like the cap got thrashed up. Any idea where to get a new cap from?

kotomile 01-12-2010 07:01 PM

The auto parts store?

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 07:10 PM

I tried but they have the slightest fuck of what I'm talking about like most auto stores.

I'm assuming this is what you need : pintle cap protectors

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 07:24 PM

That's the thing right there. It appears it cracked whenever I put it in the manifold. I've called three autostores and none have it. I'm assuming those in the link won't fit.

Those particular ones pictured are wrong, but that's the part you need.

Try looking up injector O ring kits on websites like napaonline and vatozone and discount, etc. A lot of those kits come with new pintle caps. Get the part # and call the store with it.

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 07:44 PM

I've checked all the sites but can;t seem tofind shit.

I just emailed that injector guy from ebay, so we will see what he says.

Think I found it:

I am sure if you gave Deatschwerks a call and told them you were from MiataTurbo they could probably get you the pintle caps for cheap. And this way you are helping a forum sponsor.

Savington 01-12-2010 08:31 PM

NAPA has caps and o-rings for rx7 injectors but you have to bring them a part number.

Turbo_4 01-12-2010 09:13 PM

Part number as in injector number?

Deatschwerks 01-19-2010 12:07 PM

let me know if you still need them
