I've posted this in the build threads, but I figured I'd post this part here. Thank everyone for your help.

I had the last week off from work, so I've been working on the turbo install (just like I planned...mostly). I'm happy to say that it started up and idled perfectly the first time. I've not been able to take it out on the road yet, as the front bumper is still disassembled and I still need to fab some sort of heat shield. Here are some pics of the progress I've made so far.

This was right after I disassembled everything. It looks like you have loads of room, but it gets tight quick.


This is where I hung the IC. I'm proud at how well it's in there. A gorilla could hang off of it.


I used the BEGI and FM install manuals as a guide and drilled the pan right where they said to. It helped that I was using a BEGI upgraded drain kit.


The IC piping was probably the most time consuming part of this whole project. Measure, measure, test fit, test fit, test fit, cut...over and over. This is the intake coming off the throttle body.


This is off the turbo:


Hot side routing:

Here the manifold is torqued down but the turbo is only temporarily in to run the oil and water lines.


turbo in place with the down pipe. Boy, that's tight!


Oil drain about to be tightened.


At the same time, I installed an LC-1 WB O2. Here is where I had the cables coming into the passenger compartment.


I also installed Older Guy's Autotune. Here it is just above the ECU.


Here is the final IC installation. That thing doesn't move at all.


This is the cold side pipe going into the throttle body. I had to add a bung for the BOV as well as one to connect to the IAC valve.


This is the elbow the goes into the turbo compressor. I drilled a couple of holes for the BOV recirc and the valve cover vent.


This is everything torqued down and installed.


Now I just need to learn how to tune it!

Lookin' good. Might I suggest covering those heater lines though? They will last a little longer that way.

Great job man!

I'm jealous, as I have no idea to how I'm going to make a nipple for the IAC hose in my CAI, and in fact, still have no CAI. Is it beneficial to run the valve cover vent to the turbo inlet? I just have a mini-filter on mine.

Might I ask where you got the big stainless elbow/turbo intake from?

Where you got the air filter/what size it is?

There has been a debate about this. I figure, any air that has entered the system (gone past the MAS or MAF depending on the year) has been included in the ECU's calculations. Any time you vent (whether from the valve cover or BOV) that is essentially a vacuum leak.

The intake elbow is cast aluminum from ATP. In the middle of the build, I realized the 90deg bend I had wasn't going to work because it had too big of a radius. I needed something really tight, so I got this from ATP. Worked perfectly.

The filter is an "el cheapo" Spectre filter from Autozone. It's too big for the space and I'll probably change it out in the future.

just 1 question.. there is the little hose that is coming out of the valve cover right by the oil filler cap. what is that. and what is it doing, cause i noticed you re-routed it through part of the tubing off the turbo/.. would i need to do that on my build
?

Holy ****.

Boost before 100 posts, location, build thread, punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Have we found the perfect newb?

Build looks great. Along with your heat shield, I would suggest running some fire hose cover over the heater lines, along with wrapping some insulation around the master cylinder and brake lines. I had to cut the greddy heat shield so it wouldn't vibrate against the same strut bar that I see you have, so make sure you fab up something low.

The little hose is the valve cover breather. It keeps the valve cover from over pressurizing. That's why you never want to connect it between the turbo and the throttle body. Some people vent it. I think there are 2 reasons for this: 1. it's easier 2. it keeps blowoff oil from the valve cover from entering the turbo. I've seen at least one person route that line into a catch can and then in to the turbo intake.

The reason I rerouted the line into the intake is to ensure that the ecu does not see it as a vacuum leak. I could be wrong. Talk to wiser people on this board (just don't **** them off).
