Selecting the right size turbo

Mi familia,
I would like some help in sizing a turbo for my Mustang. I know it's not a Miata but this is where my peeps are! :D

Anyways, I want to do a single rear mount setup. My plan is to come out of the headers at the factory resonator location, ditch that and go into a single 2.5" tube to under trunk area. Then do the turbo magic there, and 2.5" charge pipe back to the front of the car. I am not looking for insane power, honestly just something to bump me up 100-150 whp. I just don't know how to size it, what would work best with it being a rear mounted setup.

Plz help

What size engine? How much power do you make stock? I know nothing about Mustangs, but those first 2 questions are things we probably need to know. A turbo that works for a V6 probably is not sized correctly to work for a V8.

lots of people using comp oil-less on s550s, as I'm sure you've seen. Would probably be a lot easier to set up.

why not do a front mount setup? with a smaller frame turbo and good shielding it wouldn't be hard

I admire your constant pursuit of DIY. I just took the easy route and got a procharger for mine :D 3 hour install time, you can literally bolt on 200whp in an afternoon.

5.0 liter V8 stock they are 435 to the crank. Ranges from 375-390 wheel horsepower for the stick shift cars stock.

Cost wise this is the most efficient way for me to do it, plus turbos have a special place in my heart ❤️ but I also like doing things different. If I go this route I can retain the stock manifolds with the cats. When smog time comes around, I unbolt it from under the car, slap the stock exhaust on it and get my tags. This setup will have it's own dedicated oil system separate from the engine. It'll be stock up to the resonator, from there it'll Y into the 2.5" single back to the turbo.

If I go with the more traditional route of putting them in the engine bay, I'd have to build headers, crazy down pipe and wastegate routing, heat control, etc...

Plus I have a killer idea for my exhaust once it leaves the turbo
