Default Shanghai S IC or Ebay DIY?

While I wait for my last package to come in from Begi.. I was thinking of either purchasing the Begi-S intercooler or DIY with some ebay parts. I'm planning on getting a intercooler from a member (Specs: 21x7x2.5) and using some ebay plumbing. What route would be money saving? I wouldn't mind getting the ebay plumbing http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-50-2-5-uni...e48efb&vxp=mtr.

If you don't mind cutting and flaring pipe, buy the ebay kit. You'll have plenty of time to complete your project while waiting for begi.

That looks nifty. Vise grip, big washer, and an exhaust clamp.

I was thinking some thin guage exhaust tubing and cut and weld, but I could make one of those easily.

you can assemble your own IC piping without rolling the pipes, you know. it works, just not super-optimal.

Looks like there's an adapter or something..

Which part? The ultra-effing long hose clamp, or the barb to attach your idle air control valve??

I'd prefer to have the barb welded to the stainless/aluminum pipe myself, however the silicone hose tap is also available here:

You don't need to flare the pipes on the ends unless you're planning on faefloraing it and running ALL OF IT. Unflared pipes will easily hold 30+ psi.

As far as the little pipe for the idle valve goes.. you'll need to weld attachments for a temp sensor, and a bov on that metal pipe. Why not weld a little pipe on there for a hose attachment too?

Mines an NB so I don't have an idle valve attachment like you do but this is what i'm using. Simple all in one.

Really? Where could I purchase the whole thing? Pipping; hot & cold side, coupler with idle valve, etc.

FM sells their IC piping kit, yes. I'm 99% sure it has ports for the idle valve and an AIT sensor. give them a call/look.

I've got part of one in the garage right now. the way FM does it, there is a 90° that goes into the TB, a short aluminum piece with your BOV and/or IAT temp bung or whatever, then the big S shaped part that connects to the IC. The big once piece S was almost $100 by itself.

edit: assuming you use t-bolt clamps, otherwise, you won't get enough clamping force for anything over 7-10 psi ... ask me how I know
