Side mount intercooler behind TSI

I was thinking that, for a low boost setup, a small side mount intercooler may work fairly well behing a TSI. Just an initial thought. I'm not sure there is enough room, but it seems like it might simplify the pipe/radiator routing issue, and for a cheap, low boost setup, it might be just the ticket. Thoughts?

so much easier to do the same in the mouth.

There is a reason everyone puts the IC in the mouth of the car in miata turbos.

Other ways look easier, but they arent.

I can't imagine a TSI even giving much airflow in the first place

Thanks. Was just a passing thought.

I know of a side mounted IC in a Miata and it's putting out 225bhp.
IC is bloody tiny compaired to some others I've seen to.
Could be a Saab IC, about 1 foot wide.

Used DSM ICs are a dime a dozen and are probably the same size as the original FM I IC from BEGI. You could always mount it on end and have a scoop direct air through it like the RX-7 TII or a WRX. A TSI simply has no flow through it. If I remember correctly, TSIs allow more hot air out than they allow flow through.
