Single piece downpipe
 
Can it be done? Without removing the turbo or manifold. I would love to not have to worry about those stupid bolts when making it. Ive searched but cant seem to find much

you mean as a single pipe not welded but completely molded into a dp shape? or do you mean prewelded downpipe that just fits into the engine bay as one piece and not like the begi 2 piece one

Easy, when you aren't trying to stuff ten pounds of shit into a two-pound space. You cannot remove the BEGi SGDP as one piece (lord knows I've tried.) You could remove your engine, then set a one-piece SGDP in place, then reinstall the engine, but I think I'd rather deal with bolts.

I would pay another $75 for the option to have the slipjoint replaced by a slipjoint on the wastegate tube and a v-band flange on the main tube in a heartbeat, though. I'm pretty sure there's room and it would make life so much easier.

I can remove my turbo and DP from the motor in one piece. :bigtu:

It really depends on the setup, you'll be hard pressed to do a SGDP from BEGi or GReddy turbo.

Its do-able but will depend on placement of the turbo. If you plan to use a Begi manifold, Its probably gonna be hard because of how the turbo is placed. There's not enough room to move and position the downpipe as one piece.

Mine's seperated gasses for like 5" and it's a one piece and can be removed by itself. But it's a bitch and a half getting to the lower bolts on my turbo flange.

Might be because your turbo is the size of Rhode Island.

well i have the greddy turbo and greddy manifold. still think its possible?

it can definitely be done without removing the turbo. In fact, having the turbo in place is about the only way you could do it because if it were off, how would you know where your pipes needed to go. I just built up a downpipe a few days ago for my build up and the turbo was on the car. You can see it at the bottom of my build thread (see my signature) Here is what i did, starting from the top:

1. slide the exhaust flange over the studs and use a clamp to hold it flush
2. take a 90* bend and massage it with a saw/grinder/whatever works for you until you get the pipe to point where it needs to go when you hold it up to the flange. This should be down and slightly toward the transmission.
3. Take a 45* and repeat the process, should get you to just about where the stock manifold and downpipe hook together and bolt up to the transmission
4. Mock up the rear flange that bolts up to the cat, use a jack to raise it up to where it would normally sit.
5. take another 45* bend and massage until it fits to your liking. It should be pointing straight toward the Catalytic converter at this point. It may help to use a piece of pipe or something else straight to make sure it is pointing directly at the cat before you tack the 45* on.
6. Its straight forward from here, put a flex on if you want and some 02 bungs.
7 final weld it up, grind the slag and crappy looking welds, sand it down and paint with bbq paint for that finished look. Finally, enjoy your new downpipe.

the thing is. is that the turbo sits pretty high on the stock greddy mani. I think ill try to do it but seems to me i had no luck getting the whole downpipe out without removing the manifold.
