Another advantage is price. Its not uncommon to see a wrx snail sell for $40 in good condition.

Im glad everything worked out well too, I was super stressed. Fins look good and the thing spins freely.

I had considered an adaptor plate but I would have to go to a shop to get it done or buy online..which is more of a cost issue.

yeah, that's one of the big advantages of this route. it's CHEAP to get the turbos themselves in pristine condition. if flanges for the turbo manifolds and downpipes were easier to get your hands on from vendors, it would be a much more viable option for thrifty diy'ers. :-)
