Some FM2 bits, some custom Fab = Turbo NB

Little Backstory. Been out of the Miata game for years now. Missed having a Miata so bought myself a Cheap NB with a "blown" engine. Fixed the engine that wasnt actually blown in the first place. Wanted a turbo. Found a FM II circa 2009 or so when FM still used the hard pipes for the intercooler on FB marketplace. Got everything minus the FMIC for 850 shipped....insanely cheap. Decided to not use the crappy mild steel pipe for the IC that FM uses and went with Aluminum. Went with a Vibrant 16800 Intercooler and welded up the IC pipes. Exhaust is a old Borla XR1 that my buddy had on his old miata race car, full 3" Stainless no resonator no cat that we fabbed up. Hydra EMS is ver 2.5 so its a little old school but it works surprisingly well. Clutch is a Super Miata 1.8 4 puck with a 9 lb flywheel. The engine has 218k on it and still runs really nicely. Glad to be back in the game. The only FM bits are the manifold, turbo, turbine outlet, 2.5" DP and the RC 550's. Everything else was fabbed by me and my buddy. Hope you guys are diggin' it.

Thanks man, we knocked out the IC pipes in about 2 hours the other night. Literally the hot side is so simple with the compressor facing down near the frame rail. Take a 180* U bend and chop it in half and then a 90* into the IC. The cold side took most of the time honestly. I much prefer aluminum to mild steel for IC pipes.

Forgot to add, Im also running a Hydra 2.5 that came with the kit on some random map that might need some fine tuning. Im staying out of boost until I can confirm that the timing and afr's are in check.

looks nice! What kind of oil feed and drain are you using, do you know the sizes? I am going to run gt2554r on 1.8 NB, but can't find what size of oil lines are used by FM and if there should be a restrictor or not..

Hey man glad you like it. The oil feed is -4an, and the oil drain is 5/8 hose than can take oil, dont use heater hose. The GT series turbos have a restrictor built right into the oil feed in the CHRA.
