Stock Cam selection for small turbo motor
Hi
I'm about to start a rebuild of my engine and have a selection of stock cam options to consider, was wondering if anybody has any advice on my best option. the car is used for rally-cross so low down and mid-range torque and fast spool/responsiveness is favored way more than top end power, just can't put it all down on the loose stuff ! The car is a 1990 with 1.8 motor plus gt 2554r on Begi cast manifold into 3" exhaust. Intake is fed over the radiator modified Porsche 996 Intercooler into a VVT 2002 manifold with the VTCS butterfly's removed into a stock BP4W (2000) head. I have some parts to choose from and utilize (Since I dropped a valve cash is tight !), was hoping to use some combo of these off my parts shelf, and I'm assuming they all interchange somewhat, but maybe not....? - 2000 Intake and Exhaust cams - 2002 VVT intake and Exhaust cams - 1994 Intake and exhaust cams - 1 variable cam sprocket. Initially I was thinking about the Exhintake swap - but didn't know how well it worked for Boosted engines and can't find any dyno plots or data - again, my focus being on the low end and response. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks |
stock works fine.
you can't use a vvt intake cam on a non vvt head. |
With your goals, sell your parts and get a stock VVT head.

My car has the Exhintake cam. The car will be getting Dyno tuned this weekend and I will post up the results in my build thread. Wont tell the whole story given all the other variables but at least its a data point.
