stock exhaust manifolds

Hi guys,
I was just wondering if anyone has a stock exhaust manifold for a 1.6? I was wanting to start fabbing up a turbo mani...But I was also wondering if a manifold off of a...lets say 1.6l Mazda 323 would work? Because I think all I really need is the flange to bolt up to the head. So as long as the flange isnt warped or cracked the rest could look like a pile of crap...or even warped alittle it can be resurfaced, well it probably will be anyways. And if anyone does if they are willing to sell or trade...or even just give it away? =)

Thanks guys,
Ryan

**EDIT** I posted and asked in the for sale/wanted section...but I am also trying here. And also how many of you guys have done a DIY turbo mani? And how well does it work? Thanks

Just buy new flanges from weirtech. They are like $22 for the head side and $12 for the turbo side. I was going to do what you said and I was steered this way. Really happy with the quality of the flanges.

Shit thanks Stein, thats nice that its stainless steel. And cheap too. I was just about to grab some old scrap cast iron stuff and teach myself how to weld cast iron. I can tig the stainless steel =) you are a lifesaver. Thanks for the offer Sam but I think I am going to go this route

Wait you can tig weld but you dont know how to weld cast?

Same thing except using high carbon rod and pinging the weld between passes. Also preheat.

They aren't stainless, they are mild steel. He can make stainless ones, but they are more like $100 for the set instead of $34.

I used the mild steel with stainless weld els in my build. I'm no welder like some on here, but it came out pretty good. It's been on for about 4K miles now and no cracking, even the mild-to-stainless joints. Just use 309L filler rod and you will be golden.

Here's the build thread. Sorry there is more than just the mani in that thread.

oops I knew I read somewhere they had SS and aluminum but now I remember reading it was at an extra cost, I got them mixed up.. Ya I can tig alum, SS, and have touched alittle into mild steel but I have never tried cast iron. I have never needed too. But if the cast iron route was the way I was going to then I wouldve had to teach myself. I dont tig too often, just kinda a hobby...maybe someday I can get a job doing it...It takes a couple of practices on some scrape before I jump onto what I am welding for good. And being I have only tig'd mild steel once, I think that was my senior year in high school...lol so its been awhile so I'd definitely need practice regardless...or I mig it lol...nah that seems to easy. And I have looked at your downpipe build sbkcocker499 and it looks real good. Very nice work on that piece.
