Stock timing belt for 200hp?
So before doubling the power of my 1.6 motor I want to give it some gasket and timing belt and water pump loving. Is the stock rated timing belt ok for a 200hp build? I also plan to do the coolant reroute to keep the temp in check.

And the stock Mazda head gasket is preferred over aftermarket for boosted engines.

I have been using eBay MLS 1.8 head gaskets for years with absolutely no problems. I compared one to my OEM Rosenthal one back in 2010 and could not tell any noticeable difference. |

Not eBay, but the 2 I bought that weren't OEM looked identical to my OEM HG. Couldn't see any difference at all. The only reason I blew my HG is due to not decking the block when I did the head.

Gates Racing (blue) timing belt is a lot prettier than the stock one though.

You mean deck the head

The gates is nice. But I'm not cutting valve cover or driving with my hood off so function and price win. A good Conti timing belt will do.
I'm looking at an eBay turbo manifold gasket for $6.98 , good or no? http://www.ebay.ca/ulk/itm/151452524544 |
it uses oem multi-layer steel or it gets the hose

1.6 miata don't use MLS headgaskets from the factory. There are aftermarket MLS 1.6 head gaskets, those would be preferential to stock assuming you can prep everything right.
But yeah, that exhaust gasket sucks major peenor. |
Ok adding the Begi exhaust gasket to my shopping list.

Thanks! I'll go that route.
So if I get my MS2 working and all these gasket bits ordered I can start my build....exciting times! I will take many photos , even if it blows up. |
