Actually in Fairfax and Newport News VA there have been reports of cops checking for cats. They have mirrors on the end of sticks they use to check. Usually it done to add on tickets after you are allready stopped.

Cat. Is it really worth it. You can have power and be clean also.
My old car made plenty of power and then at Inspection time it use to shock the techs as my car with turbo, ecu, 2.5 exhaust, large injectors would be cleaner that 95% of the cars that came through. I has so little pollutants. I love nature

via the stock cat. It has a big obstacle because the pipe diamemters are way different including the wholes in the flanges.
I saw a couple of what they list as high flow cats but the flanges are still something like 2 iches. Guess they have less core to make them flow more but the flange is still small.
What I need is a large pipe and flange on the cat going to a large pipe and flange on the cat back.
If it weren't for the fact that I want to keep the exhaust "legal" (with a cat) I'd try to have someone make me a pipe that just blends the two diameters betwenn- DP and Monza Pacesetter
Any ideas for economical cat and cat back system so I can eliminate that step down.

Sidebar: I remember when Monza exhausts were popular with the air-cooled VW set. Back then, at least, they weren't exactly top-shelf hardware, but if you want to meet a bunch of folks who are even bigger tightwads than Miata owners, go to one of their meets.
