Searched to no avail. I know where it is, but I can't seem to get at, or even see the oil pressure sender unit.



I assume this picture accurately depicts where the pressure sender unit is. How the hell do I get at it? I can't reach a wrench in between the filter and the starter, Do I have to remove the IM?

Sorry for noob questions and thanks for the help.

The sending unit is the silver can with the red wire coming out of it.
Never have taken one off with engine in the car but it looks like you can unscrew it using a crowsfoot wrench and an extension.

I know that it's the pressure sender unit. That's not my car, it's a picture from a guide on giving the Miata a real oil pressure gauge.

All these guides say removing it is easy, but I'm finding it damn near impossible to even reach it with my hand, let alone a wrench.

So, here's some pictures of my oil pressure sender:



It looks like I have a bracket on my starter that isn't in the picture in the original post. I take it I have to take this bracket off to get at the damn thing?

Oh I see now. Just pull off the single-blade connector on the end of it, then use a deep socket and extension. The socket (don't know what size) should fit right over the sender.

Just an FYI:

On the Mazda BPs, the front of the engine block or the exhaust side, there is a bolt that has a bolt where you can get the oil readings or if you are going to feed the turbo.





Most people get the turbo oil feed from the oil sensor, but I luckily found an original line from someone when mazda323performance existed a while back...



I dont know if it helps, but just an FYI, about the oil sensor it would really help if you remove the filter.

It's only there on the 90-95s.

Remove the bracket that supports the IM from the block in front of the oil filter. It will give you all sorts of room to get in there from the bottom. Then use the socket like someone else mentioned. Can't remember the size socket, but the FM turbo kit install instructions (available on their website) have the size.
