Super productive day.

I was able to do the following:

fix my brake squeal. (anti-squeal goo on pad backs)

fix my TPS.

fix my wobbly crank pulley, replaced it with one off my old motor, the a/c section was crooked and it was noisy, like birds chirping.

This lead me to have to redo my timing belt. A bolt sheared off and i couldn't remove it. So I replaced the plate that the pulley bolts to. When tightening the main bolt, I made the lower cog jump a few teeth :(

Install an amp, head unit, and new door speakers. Coaxials with tweeters and crossovers. Cut 2" holes in my door panels and affixed the tweeters in a pretty nice looking fashion. Sounds amazing. I'll do headrest speakers eventually, but this car had no wiring for anything. There wasn't even an illumination wire or any speakers wires on the factory harness.

regapped my plugs to .040"

Semi-shrouded my IC and Rad. Basically bolted an aluminum panel form the front bumper straight across and then attaches at the fans behind the rad. Still need to do the sides, but this is a step in the right direction.

Things I didn't get to:

Build my extractor hood.

flash hi-res code

install my 1000uF cap for my COPs.

install a smaller restrictor on my oil inlet fitting.

I'll have pics of the stuffs tomorrow morn. Watch out for the best video ever too.

cjernigan 06-01-2008 12:01 AM

I too have had a semi-productive day.

-Depowered steering
-Rebuilt turbo
-Installed GS radiator
-Replaced Heater Hose
-Replaced homedepot rubber couplers with new silicone transitions and tbolts

Vashthestampede 06-01-2008 12:12 AM

Nice list man. What deck and speakers did you put in? I am on the fence about getting a amp to bump my new components. I've yet to buy anything yet, but its one of the next to-do's.

Its cool to see everyone getting ready for the summer months ahead.

Summer months ahead.... You must be mistaken because it was over 80 here today. AKA hot as fuck for my liking

mike_671 06-01-2008 12:21 AM

Looking forward on the pics of your tweeters.

y8s 06-01-2008 12:26 AM

it was 95 and thunderstorms today at 1pm. then at 3pm it was 70 and sunny.

I spent the day cleaning out shit from my house so I can move less of it to the new house right down the street from mr brainy man.

100% duty cycle - no no. time for bigger injectors!

kotomile 06-01-2008 01:03 AM

looks like 62.1 DC to me?

Savington 06-01-2008 01:10 AM

Dunno why it says 100. Nowhere in that log does it ever hit 100 (or 0, for that matter). About 75% DC at the peak, which is muy perfecto.

i gave him infinity tweeters/crossovers and alpine 6.5's and the headrest speakers are 2.5 kickers that have a thick magnet on them...also a v-power i think alpine amp 75x4 lots of wiring, fuses, rca's and i guess he didnt install the front mud flaps that i gave him...

It doesn't, the 105 reading is Gve, not DC. DC is 62.1% at that point on the chart. 105% DC would be impossible anyway.

I wanna play...my undertray seems to be working out. 75ish out like 100% humidity, after 30min log and the fans never came on once. And after finally putting my heatshield back on my I don't have as bad of heatsoak at idle.

the HU is an Eclipse, cira 1997. Unfortuneatly after installing i discovered the volume up button is stuck....i assume in shipping, so I'll have to replace it.

I sweat my ass off today and barely did any work. in VA we have three seasons. Fall Winter Summer.

I upgraded to PBR brake pads yesterday.

Ben 06-01-2008 10:33 AM

must have been nice to have a day to dedicate to working on the car.
I got led around by my dick to my so's company's party. Wasted the whole day. Then met dopplebadgerdrifter and his so for dinner, then post-dinner.

It's possible to read over 100% injector duty cycle. It just doesn't mean you're getting over 100% fuel. I've done it on a long term basis though and been safe. It just indicates that the tune is too rich and there is room to lean out up top.

My day was not so productive. Did buy a rebuilt socketed eprom ecu for my Talon. Only need a MAP and AIT sensor and it'll be time for some REAL tuning!

kotomile 06-01-2008 10:56 AM

This is getting into semantics, but w/e.

Even if a reading of 105% DC is possible, really getting 105% DC out of injectors is impossible. No matter, as the 105 reading is NOT duty cycle anyway.

y8s 06-01-2008 11:47 AM

oh ok i'll play too.
just a random freeway flooring. The hydra doesn't output "MAP", it does vac-boost which is lame. I need to set up a map calculated field in MLV. Still working on my throttle enrichments. It goes rich then lean then fine. :dunno:

kotomile 06-01-2008 11:49 AM

you can use MLV with Hydra?

I know! how badass am I?

nah srsly MLV takes just about anything. I can save hydra datalogs as comma separated.

IcantDo55 06-01-2008 12:09 PM

1st day in the last 9 days I left my bedroom, nursing a bad back. Made it all the way to a driveway and sat in a break seat for 30 minutes and than back to bed. I saw sunshine...now thats productive!

Did you get paid for the time?

johndoe 06-01-2008 01:37 PM

had sex, now I'm at work. so half-way productive.

MX_Eva 06-01-2008 02:03 PM

I'm glad someone is finally making use of my magnehelic gauge. or rather I assume you are? Would be good for testing cross radiator pressure. just means long tubing.

What size is the metal sheet for your undertray? I need to pick one up. Most the hardware stores don't sell them in big enough sheets though.

"but kansas has DRY heat... thats why its so miserable when warm.."

Not that I believe that, but damn.. I just wish it was 70 degrees year round here. When it gets warm around here its just still air and miserable hot.

kotomile 06-01-2008 02:57 PM

Dry heat :ne: miserable

I think that's what you were saying anyway.

johndoe 06-01-2008 03:04 PM

exactly, humidity (which we have in spades in NY) makes it feel much hotter than it actually is.

Yeah my bad.. Kansas doesn't have dry heat, its really really humid here -- I said it wrong. Ohwell.

Sorry for the further hijack.

But,

See in Florida, it is ridiculously hot and humid about 8 months outta the year.

Tropical climate 4tw?

Bryce 06-01-2008 03:24 PM

You all suck. It's 95 today and humid as ever. No A/C and I feel like going out and cranking the boost up to 14 psi today. I must be crazy.

Wouldnt that technically be, reproductive?

johndoe 06-01-2008 04:18 PM

if she wasn't on birth control

Vashthestampede 06-01-2008 04:28 PM

Try being in direct sun from 6am to 6pm, down in a hole with no breeze, surrounded by aluminum. Not to mention swinging a hammer or carrying shit the entire time. That is fucking hot.

Going to and from your car, work, or home.....doesn't count. Thats called getting a breath of fresh air.

Vash-

johndoe 06-01-2008 04:42 PM

what the crap do you do?

UrbanSoot 06-01-2008 04:51 PM

eh. i got wasted last night at a party. almost got in a fight with few marines fresh form iraq because they were hitting on my fiance. just woke up.
productive!

kotomile 06-01-2008 05:10 PM

If you'd been in al Anbar for 7 months you'd hit on your fiance too! :)

Braineack 06-02-2008 11:21 AM

Did you buy that coupler with the nipple on it, or did you put it in yourself? (The coupler connecting the turbo and air filter)

Vash-

Braineack 06-02-2008 01:20 PM

no nipple. small hole it's forced it.

Yeah Texas heat does suck. Mid to high 90's for the past couple of weeks. :(

No amount of antiperspirant can keep you from sweating in this heat.

gohdunlam 06-02-2008 10:22 PM

yup i also have alot of time now that its summer =]
