Synchronic Blow Off Valve

Not sure if this has been brought up here before or not but it looks nice!

dude no fair now i a thinking about a BOV geez

Braineack 05-09-2007 09:01 AM

what i dont understand is that it opens as he blips the throttle....form what i can tell, and why i think it reacts "so fast," is that if the thing is open when WOT obviously it's going to blow off faster....however, wouldn't you leak boost pressure also? Mine closes tight when i blip the throttle and releases just as fast as when i let off.

magnamx-5 05-09-2007 09:06 AM

dunno i dont have surge on throttle blip more pronounced on 10+ psi quick off the gas. But this might be for me if i can find one cheap enough who makes a cheap good one? the one posted is 200+$

Didn't watch it all the way through but it looks like the valve is always open under vacuum. Sure it works great on a MAP based car...

Really like the comparison to a Tial that probably has the stiffest vac spring possible in it... if they had the correct spring in the Tial it would open without any assist from the pressurized air in the charge pipe. I detest that sort of marketing.

Sirnixalot 05-09-2007 10:43 AM

that was the HKS SSQ not a tial they compared it with:cool:

PAT! 05-09-2007 10:51 AM

I'm referring to a different video that was linked to off of the one posted, I didn't watch all of that first one.

cjernigan 05-09-2007 10:56 AM

My tial is sealed tight until vac is applied. It has a 12lb spring in it and I have never seen it leak or anything like that. It snaps right open under nearly all boost levels. When at a stop I can operate the throttle by hand like that guy and see it move a little.

Braineack 05-09-2007 01:34 PM

I just went out and fooled around with mine...I trust mine opens and closes just as rapidly. I know Synchronic's thing is eliminating the diaphram, however, is it really that big of a deal?

y8s 05-09-2007 01:55 PM

bailey bovs are pistons....

mine opens when i barely rev the engine....

so i will keep it.

jhoexp 05-09-2007 02:15 PM

I can't understand: is the syncronic bov open at idle??

Isn't it a bad thing? expecially if you use an afm?

Braineack 05-09-2007 02:19 PM

it's why you add the "anti-stall" guy or recirculate.

jayc72 05-09-2007 02:20 PM

Do people run a BOV like that with out a filter on it? Sucking un filtered air into the engine at idle is bad m'kay.

Ok, what's an anti-stall valve? :)

PAT! 05-09-2007 02:30 PM

It looks to be open at idle... when they have the tissue paper in front of the valve you can see the valve suck it in.

My take is they are using questionable comparisons to manufacture a demand for a problem that doesn't exist.

simplest way to describe it is a one-way check valve.

I think it was only open in the video as a demo to see how fast it is. Normaly it would be recrc. From what ive heard they are releasing a anti-stall sometime this month. It is pricey at over 200, but i did payed more then that for my Greddy RS after the recerc adapter and mounting flange.

So the air that goes out of the syncronic bov has to push a diaprhragm to open the check valve, right?

It's seem to me that make much more sense if you recirculate it, otherwise you still have a diaphragm blocking the air and slowing the flow...

Braineack 05-09-2007 02:52 PM

exactly why I was recirculated when non-MAP.

that7guy 05-09-2007 02:54 PM

Im not recirc with my afm and run fine. Its all a matter of leaking at idle.
