T3 60 with 0.42 A/R compressor housing

Hi all,

What are the differences between a T3 60trim with a 0.42 A/R compressor housing and a T3 60 trim with a 0.60 A/R compressor housing? Turbines are the same...0.48 A/R.

do a simple search with keyword 0.42 A/R or 0.60 A/R adn read everything braineack ever wrote...

nothing. you will never feel or be able to log a difference, if everything else is truly equal.

because it's on the compressor side, the a/r doesn't effect anything, boosted air will travel just a fast to the TB through a small a/r or large a/r.

the turbine's A/R on the other hand...

The power output will not be reduced by using a smaller A/R compressor housing?

Braineack 10-05-2007 10:48 AM

no, compressor output is insensitive to changes in A/R.

The main advantage to a larger AR compressor is it looks cool having a 4" inlet and a 2.5" outlet vs. having a 2.25" in and a 2" out. (#s pulled from ass)

ok so like the T3s from the 85 turbo thunder bird, the automatic uses a .60/.48 A/R and the manuel uses .60/.63A/R does this mean i can use either, with out worrying about additional lag.

Braineack 10-06-2007 02:09 AM

no, the turbine is VERY senstive to A/R changes.

for a 1.6L you'd want the .48 like me. at 200rwhp i wasnt seeing any torque dropping off due to it choking.
