T3 turbo
Hi im looking at peicing together my turbo kit for my Mk1 1.6 miata. My goal is around 200whp but with ability to raise later.
Ive got an ETD manifold on the way and am looking for an internally gated T3. Can I use any T3 turbo as I will be making a custom down pipe.Is it just the exhaust exit housing which differs? Im from the United kingdom and a lot of T3 turbos are available from ford sierra cosworths. Will this fit? |
Needs more info on the Cosworth Turbos.
I assume it has a 5 bolt housing since it is a Ford. Report back with the trim and you shall recieve more help. Cheers |

There are differences... I think the Volvo and Mercedes have weird footprints, otherwise they are all standard.
Easiest thing would be to double check against this: http://jgsturbo.com/tk030p.jpg the outlet wouldn't matter much since you'll be making a custom DP, however, some T3's have weird ass integrated pipes and wastegates so you might have to replace that section with something more standard like this: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/gr...GT-010_450.jpg compared to this: http://turbosunleashed.com/shop/images/New%20VNT.jpg also.....you may have to figure out flanges for some compressor housings: http://www.mjmturbos.com/images/T3housingA.jpg |

Thanks for the information :) am i right in thinking some T3 are also watercooled and i should avoid these as il be keeping standard radiator?

some are some aren't.

Any the cosworth turbo looks like so..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Garrett-T3-Tur...QQcmdZViewItem

yeah both flanges are odd. im sure the turbine inlet is fine...the outlet would need to be machined flat.. and i've never seen that bolt pattern, so an external wastegate would be a must.
