Default Silverado Magnaflow system chopped up for Miata

So in my quest for more power I realize I need to dump the stock exhaust. I have little budget left in the Miata and finding a used 3" system is very rare, and then shipping to Canada is $$$$.

What I did find is this Magnaflow Truck sytem used for sale cheap locally and it includes the 5 x 11 x 22 Magnaflow:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=all&id=1731

I can get the whole thing for about $50 more than the cost of the 5 x 11 x 22 by itself. It looks like I may be able to use most of it to make a DP back muffler.

I can't weld very good so I may cut it up and get a shop to put it back together. I have access to a welder but still not sure plus a shop will be so much faster just don't know if they like the idea of a guy with a box of parts that says - "make this stuff go on this car good".

I think I still need a flange or 2 and maybe a U-turn piece.

This is right inline with the cheap but properly functional principle than runs rampant here, at least I think so.

Any thoughts on the bends and if this system will accomodate most of the ones an NB needs ? I also have a hitch and am a little worried that the 5 x 11 x 22 may interfere?

Yes, Magnaflow > Chokemaster.

Straight-through perforated core stainless steel on all the mufflers I've ever seen from them.

Magnaflows don't have baffles. You're good. Don't know if you're covered with the piping.

I fabbed mine up by hand using purchased bends and u-clamps..and it looks like you should have what you need there, depending on the length of the straight section.

Only thing is when you start cutting it will have to be rewelded back up, and probably need a flange or two, so your cost is back up to something custom.

Here a custom in aluminized is about $500.

I should really learn how to weld as I also just found out my flex section is leaking

I've been debating a while the cheapest route and I think what I have planned may work.

What I would really like to do is have one of you guys build me one or sell me one of your used ones. Problem is shipping has to be factored in. I know there are some people here setup to build and sell and I don't want to hurt their business. But others who have done it once or twice if I could get one to my door aluminized with the big Magnaflow in Canada for around $400 Canadian that would be great.
pm me if you think that is possible?
