You don't just need an LSD, you obviously need studded tires as well!

Just add about 500 lbs. of lead into your trunk. You might end up doing wheelies then!

hence my post above... there are guys running open diffs with 250+ HP and not spinning 4th unless they want to really bad. unless you've done some serious work you arn't telling us about I doubt you are making 250-300 hp on 6psi.

Unless you are running 2 spare tires in the rear I dont see how you can do what you claim.

FWIW, I've got a 4.10 RX7 rear and azenis, and it spins in 1st and second, but only in second if its below 50 or so. This is at 12psi.

I don't spin my ALL SEASON (MUD & SNOW) tires at 200rwhp. What the **** do you guys do to have all these traction problems?! Are you all clutch dumping at 6k or something? Yes I can break it lose if I want it to....but I mean wtf?!

That aside: If you are dead set on an LSD the only type that will help is a clutch-type as a Torsen will not lock unless you're in a corner.

My RA-1 would spin in the rain when it was 5*C, 3rd gear. But they were nearly corded and rock hard.

Well yeah I can step out the rear in the rain in 3rd, that's not too hard.

First things first:

What type of diff. do you currently have? Size, type and final drive ratio.

If you have an open, you do realize that an LSD may not exactly solve your problems, but it will make your car fishtail even more?

What is your rear camber like?

What spring rates and shocks?

Exactly the point. The OP is an idiot trying to fix a traction problem with an LSD, when it is likely conditions, tires or a combination of both that are causing the problem. Either that or he has a slipping clutch and thinks it's his tires letting loose.

Jason, is this still your setup:
i have a 16g evo 3 turbo, 1.8l injectors, 255 fuel pump, fm single exhaust and off road pipe, 2.5" dp, fmu, ngk plugs, huge xs intercooler, customer 2" piping... megan manifold

Did you ever sort out your tuner issues and find a dyno to tune the thing?
If so, what kind of power are you running and how did you solve your boost issues: https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6392

With the above setup, you're capable of 200rwhp at 10-12psi with a good tune on a NB. But if your tune is bad (as I suspect), you're probably down in the 150rwhp range. There is no way in hell that at 6psi driving in a straight line you're "spinning like crazy" in third and fourth on dry pavement with good tires. I might buy that you're getting a little squirly through second when really punching it... but come on dude, tell us the rest of the story.

I would venture a guess that if you're still on the stock clutch, that your traction problem is really your slipping and dying clutch. Let me guess: at about 4000rpm's with your foot to the floor, the engine races to redline and you don't go any faster?

Start with listing all of your mods... better yet, fill out your vbGarage and your signature with all that info. Where do you currently live and what's the road conditions and weather. New York, right? I hear it's about 20 degrees right now... might not be the best time to troubleshoot traction problems. What kind of tires are you running and what is their condition? How exactly are you driving when this happens? More info!
