turbo advice
I'm shooting for 200-250whp at about 8 psi, without a retarded amount of lag, say fully spooled at 3.5k rpm. Wich turbo should I go for? 2560, or even a t28? If I feel like it, I want to be able to up the boost to 15 psi for some occasional fun, but most of the time will be around 8 psi..
I'll probably use a begi mani and dp, megasquirt and the works.. ('94 1.8l) |
Somewhere??? between 200-250whp. That's a pretty big range. You might want to pick a more specific number... like 225 to split the difference.
8psi isn't going to get you to 200whp even with standalone. Any of the T2 series turbo's will be mostly spooled by 3500. I can usually get to about 10psi by then, and up to 12-15 by around 3800 with my SR20det T25. The DSM turbo's will be fully spooled by 3500 but won't get you the top-end you're looking for. A real good tune (MS/Link/eManage) with most of the mid-size T2 series turbo's has shown that 10psi gets you 200whp, and 15psi gets you 250whp. The 2560/T28 will get you a little past that with a few more psi, but not much. If you're looking for a daily driver in the 225whp range and then want to bump it up occasionally, you might want to check out a DiscoPotato 2860rs. |
where will an 2860rs on 8-10 psi get me? provided a good tune ofcourse..
220rwhp? and on 16psi? 270? |
I had a gt2560r at 9-10psi and was at about 210rwhp.
|
I see, thnx
|
it's going to take a bigger turbo to hit that mark at that psi level...see y8s' dyno....
|
Why the 8 psi number? Kinda irrelevant don't you think?

The T3 Super 60 for sure. Sometimes I wonder why people run anything else if they are looking to make under 280 whp.

The T3S60 spools fast and will save you $600 or more over the 2860rs. They are both pretty close powerwise, but the T3S60 has a small power advantage and the GT2860RS has a small spool advantage... All things considered I prefer the cash in my pocket and the 200 RPM hit in spoolup time.

I hit 12psi at 3800RPM, and I have a restrictive exhaust.....
the compressor flow map, is just in between the 2560 and 2860... https://www.miataturbo.net/braineack...m/t3vs2560.jpg |

sorry to burst your bubble but i don't think you will be able to "fuck over you're neighbor's supra" i've seen a supra (engine only) with only bolt ons and it was close to 400hp. not sure if that was engine or wheel but regardless thats a shitload! and you wanna know the best part about it? it belongs to my younger brother's friend, yeah hes 16....fucker
|
I think a 250rwhp miata would have a chance against a stock supra tho..
|
yeah i looked it up online and the 1987 one only makes 230 hp and weighs over 3k if your miata had 250 hp it would trounce the supra.
|
if thats wheel power, then a sub 200 horsepower miata would give it a run....
