Yes ebay makes the best turbos you should get the one that says turbo not hit block in the ad its the best.

Jeff_Ciesielski 10-06-2009 06:19 PM

The turbo you seek lies to the left of your 'a' key.

naarleven 10-06-2009 06:19 PM

Honestly, the mods should institute an auto-ban. If someone tries to submit a post with more than 10 caps in a row -> warning, twice ->Ban.

hustler 10-06-2009 07:17 PM

yes, the ebay kits are good. Just make sure and get one where the turbo does not hit the block.

The answer to your question depends entirely on what your definition of 'daily use' is. There's no shortcut to figuring this out, apart from just buying an off-the-shelf kit and hoping that whatever you've been sold will suit you.

TURNS101 10-06-2009 07:31 PM

Read up.
then post

Anyone of those turbos may be the best for you.. All depends on a bunch of shit you need to read about..

There you go.

gospeed81 10-06-2009 07:36 PM

What are your goals?

What are your mechanical/fabrication skills?

What is your budget?

etc.

etc.

We're not the Magic 8 Ball of turbo questions...we need something to go on.

MIATA2005 10-06-2009 07:51 PM

well my mechanical skills are very good but not with turbo, never worked on one. I have about $1,000.00 for the project and Im asking because I heard that for using the car every day the T03 or T04 is not good. I wanted something simple to add some horse power and fool around but I use the car every day to go to work and do the every day things, I own a 2005 miata that I use mostly weekends and days off so this is the car we use for everything else.

Did you even read the links posted up? Are you impaired?

viperormiata 10-06-2009 08:08 PM

Save up atleast 1,000 more dollars.

Buy this, BEGi Shanghai-S Turbo System 1999-2004 BEGi and buy MegaSquirt or equally as usuable and capable EngineManagement.

Why would you drive your 1.6 every day and not your 2005. To top that you want to turbo your daily driver when you've got a weekend toy? Cool, bro, very cool.

Save yourself at least $1,000,000 more dollars.

I wish SamNavy's internet was working a little better than it is currently.

samnavy 10-07-2009 06:26 AM

Damn... I've gotta go launch planes in 15 minutes, Gladiator is on, I just learned one of my guys is snorting ground-up Vicodin pills, and I am needed on the internet... priorities...

Anyways. To MIATA2005, don't go away. You made the most classic of all online forum mistakes... you joined and started asking questions without doing any prior homework. Turbocharging a vehicle is not an easy process... especially not easy to do it right. There are dozens of parts both mechanical and electrical that are involved, and $1000 is nowhere near enough money to properly turbo a 2005.

To properly do a 2005 for somebody who doesn't want to be constantly tinkering with it... ie, "install and mostly forget", you'll be looking at a "kit" made by one of the 2 big manufacturers of Miata turbo kits, either FlyinMiata or BellEngineering. Find their websites an have a look. After buying the electronics, you're into the $5k range... not cheap.

If you're just looking about 10whp or so, investigate an "exhintake swap" and "adjustable camgears." For about $250 and an afternoon of wrenching, you do these mods. Of course there are always the standard intake/exhaust mods to be done that might be good for another 5-10whp... you'd be surprised what an extra 20whp does for Miata. Beyond that, you're looking at many thousands of dollars to get a reliable well built turbo kit.

OH yah, and learn the lesson about forums... read all the stick'ys first. If there is a NOOB section "MEET & GREET", then post there first... who know's there might even be a couple sticky's in the NOOB forum that tell you how to be a good NOOB... whaddya know?

Faeflora 10-07-2009 08:22 AM

No, go away.

triple88a 10-07-2009 10:43 AM

every body is giving you shit, Its normal man :D

Read up here on ebay kits then read the link on the first page. It will save you the 1000 you got plus the cost of a new engine when the ebay kit blows up.

miatauser884 10-07-2009 10:55 AM

If you have two miatas, why not just sell one of them and use the money to turbo the other? If setup correctly, a turbo setup is very reliable. You just can't half ass it. If you are mechanically inclined and can use something like the new diypnp from diyautotune, then you might be able to get something going for 3k. You will just have to take your time buying up parts as the good deals come along. Do it right and you will save a lot of time and money by not repaying for mistakes.

Did anyone even think that the guy might be from overseas where you could get an NB with a 1.6L? I don't think he has 2 miata's. But he's gone anyways so it doesnt matter.
