Turbo coolant and oil cooler hose routing
 

Hi.

1.8 MSM, prepping for EFR turbo kit.

Engine on the stand. Installed qmax reroute. I'm trying to figure out how to properly route coolant lines. I need to get coolant to and from both the factory oil cooler/heater and my turbocharger. Using Qmax 1/8npt > -6AN to supply coolant to turbocharger. Going to tap my water pump inlet to NPT and put a -6AN in it to return the coolant. I've deleted the front water neck/ t-stat housing completley.

The dilemma, is I still need to get coolant from the nipple on the back of the head to the oil cooler/heater (which uses nipples) and somehow back to the water pump inlet.

Can I just "tee" the oil cooler/heater return hose back into the turbo -6AN supply line with the appropriate fittings/tee's or will this create a lack of flow to the oil/cooler heater?

I've searched and searched and searched. Kind of a unique problem.

Does the MSM block have the factory water/oil ports on the side of the block?

It does but I'm using a 2005 non msm block. I have to get oil from the sender gallery and coolant from my qmax reroute. I have the MSM water pipe and also a non msm water pipe .

The main dilemma seems to be how and where I'm going to get the oil cooler/heater coolant return back to water pump inlet.

Wheres the oil cooler return? is it the rubber hose at the bottom left of the pic going into the inlet nipple?

Looks like this person just drilled and tapped right into the side of the inlet casting for coolant return? I was going to try to heat up the casting with a torch, remove the nipple on the front, and tap that hole.

Do some research.There is a never ending supply of info and pictures.You can remove the hose nipples with a vice grip by twisting and pulling. You want the water inlet to travel up to the turbo from the bottom, and the water outlet to travel up out of the turbo, and continue upwards as much as possible to allow the heat to cycle through more efficiently. If you have a msm, why aren't you using the block? It has the ports right there behind the turbo.

I'm not using the MSM block because I started ordering parts and assembling the short block before I pulled the original engine. It was just easier for me to do that way. If I remove the nipple on the water pump inet can I just tap it for NPT>AN and run a AN tee or "Y" fitting so i can also return the coolant from the oil cooler there as well. Seems like it will work with the appropriate adapters. I'll have to use a AN to barb fitting on one side and just standard -6an on the other. Sorry I'm new to AN fittings and lines. After some test fitting im not even sure if I'm gonna be able to use the MSM water pump inlet. My research shows its different and the heater hose pipe won't line up properly. I'll have to source a non msm inlet and toy with that one.
