turbo for dummies? where to start?

So, I have a 1.6l bone stock w/ racing exchaust, and I want to turbo it but I have no clue where to start.

Yes. I have done a shit load of research, but its still not answering my questions. My goal is to get 300hp (nice street car I believe, no?) I know I need to get my compression checked, getting that done. Also is is possable to get that much power with VERY little mods/cheaply?

Also getting this out of the way: yes, I'm a female; yes, I have some expierence with cars; sorry, I can't spell very well & finally no, I don't like it in the ass so stfu.

Read "maximum boost" by corky bell
Then read the DIY FAQ.
Then read through the n00b threads and notice how many come in with stupid goals like 300whp having NO CLUE how fast that actually is on a miata.
Then read the build threads section and look at what works for others and what not.

If you truly take the time to read through all that info (should take you days or weeks even) you will pretty much never ask a stupid question again and will know 99% of EVERYTHING you need to know to boost your car.

Its really up to you. The info is ALL there.
We're more than willing to help with the more involving questions if you take the time to learn the basics.

ment to put 200, not 300. I read 260 is like a corvet in miata

Perfect reply. Josie, read this post at least 20 times and follow it. It will make things a lot easier for you, for us and for your build.

Its all there.
In the above post.
For you Id recomend you make friends with a local megasquirt guru. buy one first, buy some injectors, then just buy a complete basic begi setup for a couple grand.

that will complete your goals.

get engine managment, injectors, turbo kit or source your own turbo parts
turbo, wastegate, turbo manifold, custom exhaust or if there is direct fit exhaust and intake piping, oil drain and feed

I would say ebay 1.6l T3 manifold cast iron piece, Ebay T3 turbo, and get the exhaust custom made back with a v band flange at the turbo

you can source other non essintal parts later ( bov, intercooler, etc )

yeah don't go bandaids
