Is this turbo a good option for me

I'm trying to gather parts for DIY turbo. I'm looking for 6-8 psi using band-aids (bipes, stock injectors, afpr, no intercooler). Can anyone tell me if this would be a good turbo for me? I've read that 16g is pretty big but is this really a 16g turbo? It looks like it's just a smaller T25 to me which is what I am looking for. Help!

I strongly believe that the best turbo you can use for a miata is a genuine Garrett T25 from a Nissan SR-20. They are cheap, easily rebuildable, and they make good power / have great spool. Just buy one and be done with it and be more than happy.

If you want under 250, sure.

Exactly. If I was going over 250 and wanted good spool with a pile of head room, I'd go GT2871. Under 250, I'd say the T25 SR20 turbo. It's similar to the GT2554, but it has journal bearings. For under $400, Gpop shop can bore out the compressor and install a "Big T28" (60mm 60 trim wheel) and then it's similar to a GT2560, but still with journal bearings, but also with a bigger turbine wheel. I think I paid about $220 shipped for my SR20 turbo on e-bay. I rebuilt it with a Gpop shop rebuild kit that cost me like $80 bucks? Have been running it on all different boost levels for the past 2 years with no problems. It's fun on 6-8 psi, but then there was plenty of headroom for when I wanted to turn it up to the 12-14 psi that it's running on now.
