Turbo Housing Centering???

What is the proper procedure for centering your housings after clocking or dis-assembly of a turbo to prevent contact between the wheel and the housing. Thanks!

I have searched around a bunch and haven't come up with anything.

MODS: If i'm in the wrong spot, move me please. :)

Step 1: Make sure the CHRA is sitting flush/level in the turbine housing.
Step 2: Tighten bolts evenly.

That's about it, when it is apart you may want to give it the once over with a wire brush and a blade, just make sure it is clean then bolt it right up as above.

if you are really bothered you could use a micrometer or a vernier to check, and scrape the areas that are high or low but it really isn't that close to be honest :)

Thank you for the straight answer. :)

One more thing to note, if your compressor housing was a bit tight to move, Chances are you will need a new gasket this won't cause any damage if removed but you will loose some boost.

the exhaust side will be fine.

When it is all bolted back up just give the shaft a spin and check for any nasty noises, it takes quite a lot for it to hit, so if it does you may want new bearings.

If you have had the turbo right off then you may want to unplug the coil pack and turn the engine over for a bit just to get some oil flowing.

I think there is an article about turbo rebuild which will tell you most of the other stuff you need to know. (by Braineack I think) Listen to him he knows his stuff.
