Turbo ID please

Got the silver NA today that I bought off of Vito. Pulled the turbo, lines, manifold, downpipe and full FM 2.5" exhaust. That will go a long way in building my SAAB exhaust. Just need to remove the cat and add in a section of pipe to accommodate the longer wheelbase but most of the tubing is there plus a free-flow muffler so I'm happy.

As far as the turbo goes, it was called a FM2 kit in the ad so I was hoping for a 2560 or at least a 2554. Looks like I got neither.

Hot side is AR .49 M4. Cold side is AR .48 M24. Same specs as the SR20 T25 that I have but that one is a M10 cold side. It has a factory Overhaul tag on it and the shaft play is zero. Much better than the "fresh overhaul" that I bought on Zilvia.net.

Wastgate is marked 91-092 10 443700.1 so would that be a 10 psi can?

Ended up selling the car for $900, he paid the $308 tow bill and I got the above parts and made $400 and I didn't have to haul it home or part it out so I'm not even mad.

So, what do I have?

Is it t25 flange?
How is it your sr20 turbo is .49 turbine?? I'm pretty certain all t25 sr20 turbos are .64 ar.
Best thing I can say is to measure the diameters on the wheels.

Stein 04-21-2013 12:27 AM

Same thing stamped on both. Wheels look the same when sitting side by side. Both are T25 flange.

Not much help, but i searched for hours on that m24 trying to find out if it was a model # or something for my own turbo. Turns out it's just a designation of what alloy they used for the turbo itself. Best of luck!

Many views and no one knows what it is?

Is there a serial number or part number on the CHRA?

See if the number crosses here: http://www.turbo-product.com/Nissan/

I used to have two Nissan OEM turbos, one small T25 from a CA18DET motor on a 200SX (on the right of the picture) and a bigger T28 from a SR20 motor on a Nissan Pulsar GTI-R car (on the left of the picture) and both comme with a 3-bolt flange on the compression side, and as you can see the T28 also have a 2 bolt flange on the intake. The adaptators on the T28 are aftermarket ones

CA18DET turbo.

It's small because only half of the turbos used on that from the factory.

I believe it's the same thing as the SR20 turbo, just with tiny A/R housing.

What do you think upper end of efficiency be? 180-200 whp max? It's for the SAAB.

Braineack 04-23-2013 10:20 AM

is the SAAB getting a 1.8L?

I'd expect fast as shit spool, tons of mid range, and nothing above 4-5K. Probably peaks at 150-160rwhp.

the SR20 turbo already dies above 5.5K, and that has a .86 A/R turbine housing.

Yes, the SAAB is getting a stock 94 1.8. I have two of these .48/.49 turbos now. If I was baller I'd twin turbo it with a pair of them but I don't see a reason to do that.

Might just sell both and buy something else.

Braineack 04-23-2013 10:49 AM

how'd you end up with two? the SR20 is a .86 turbine and .64 compressor housing; you suggested you had an SR20 turbo.

the above dynos are the actual SR20 turbo. You have two CA18DET turbos it seems.

The first was sold to me as a rebuilt SR20. The second one was on the crashed 92 that I bought and was indicated it was a FM2 kit so I assumed it was a 2554 or 2560. Maybe I should just twin turbo it with the two little guys.

Braineack 04-23-2013 12:05 PM

do it!

Pussy.

Stein 04-23-2013 12:16 PM

If I thought it had a chance in hell in not sucking I'd consider it. I haven't built my manifold yet, have two sets of water, oil lines and fittings, all of the manifold components except for needing one more turbo inlet flange.

TravisFC3S 04-23-2013 12:21 PM

Seriously, I support this idea.

I have seen them and I wonder:

Why aren't they on a car now?

If they are so great why hasn't anyone else done it?
