Turbo size comparison

How does the TD04hl-15g compare in size to other turbos used on miatas. I am asking this because I cant seem to find the size of my turbo ( like ar and stuff) on it.

bripab007 03-01-2007 11:25 AM

Try www.stealth316.com
It's probably roughly the same size as a T25/GT2554, I think. Actually probably inbetween that and the 2560.

F20turbo 03-01-2007 11:43 AM

428cfm = 270whp capable.

sickmiata09 03-01-2007 01:38 PM

Is it about the size of a t28?

F20turbo 03-01-2007 02:24 PM

yep

PaKMaN 03-02-2007 04:34 AM

So the turbo on the greddy kit is larger than the T25 off an SR20 correct?

magnamx-5 03-02-2007 08:44 AM

about the same i geuse bottomline you wont see alot more than 275 whp out of it unless you do something special. And spend alot of time tunning it etc.

sickmiata09 03-02-2007 10:15 AM

Magnamx-5 if your talking about my turbo:Considering that I got it for free in working condition I'm not complaining!
If not please disregard my post.

where did you get this cfm number? I was wondering the cfm of my 16g.

Try www.stealth316.com

Lemme check...yup, they have compressor flow maps for 16g turbos, whaddya know!

VRTSid 03-02-2007 07:40 PM

I looked there, but I didnt know I was looking for "compressor flow maps"... and then I found that and dont understand how to calculate the number.

and that was a pretty snide answer brian thanks for you help

When you guys talk 16G, are you talking small or large?

VRTSid 03-02-2007 08:03 PM

and isnt this picture
http://not2fast.wryday.com/turbo/maps/td05-16gsmall.gif
based on the 3.0l motor? so how would that help?

: sorry I should have said small

magnamx-5 03-02-2007 09:49 PM

they run 2 of them sid. they flow 520 cfm at 15psi, with 527 cfm at 17 psi. most flow numbers are based on 1.5 liters of half the engine. ;)

Yes, it was pretty snide.

Sorry, I guess I just get tired of saying the same things around here. People these days don't seem to listen or read very carefully.

I apologize for sounding rude.

The 16g is a great 250-350whp capable turbo ( the large 16g that is ). The small 16G is a better turbo but flows less and is capable of around 250-325whp.

greddymx5 03-04-2007 07:13 PM

For the 15g: why is it the same as an garrett t25??
The t25 spools up sooner and got the same hp potental.

Is this because of an larger compressor housing?
Larger compressorhousing means less heat but slower boost build.

I know the bigger the exhaust housing the more topend power it can create.
But i don't understand what the relation between the exh a/r and the intake a/r is...
What makes a turbo a good one for your application??

sickmiata09 03-04-2007 07:22 PM

well it was stated that the 15 is actually about the size of a t28 and not a t25 so maybe that woill put ur mind at ease.

Andy you are right but may i correct the evo3-16g is good for 350, the large flows less than a small at less than 15 psi and doesnt flow but 550 or so on the top end of its compressor speed. other than that you are right.
