Turboing my Miata 91 na 1.6 diy
Wondering if my turbo needs watering ports it didn’t come with some I’m going to drill the air port my self
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...c3398ed34.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f6eca4943.jpeg and if any one can please show me a video or direct me to the right spot on where the hoses for the external waste gate connects to and blow out valve and where the boost controller goes manual boost controller I’ve searched but can’t find the right video thanks in advance |
Any help or advice would be appreciated

Don't drill your turbo. Not all turbo's are water cooled, some are just oil cooled (yours). See the link below for wastegate vacuum line routing, best spot for the source is after the intercooler unlike the compressor shown in the diagram. BOV gets plumed post throttle body directly from the manifold.

thanks mike I appreciate the reply my turbo doesn’t have that nipple should I drill one on it? Or should I connect that line located before my throttle body I just want to make sure I assemble all this correctly thank you

Drill a hole after your intercooler (coming from the turbo) on the cold side end tank instead of drilling the compressor housing. That will get rid of any pressure drop you might experience from the intercooler its self. Anywhere pre throttle body will technically work, the for mentioned is just the best spot, especially if you don't have a port already.

Ok you gotta dumbafy it sorry so poke a hole on the intercooler tubing on the turbo side of the intercooler?

intercooler piping is typically very thing, so difficult to drill and tap, unless you have access to a TIG welder to add an 1/8th NPT bung. So the typical advice is to drill/tap the thick end tank of the intercooler for both your air intake temp sensor (3/8NPT) and a boost source for the wastegate (1/8NPT to 3/16" barb).

I think I understand which end I’m guessing if you’re looking at the front of the car the right side right? Do you have pictures or can you direct me towards on how to do it? Thank you

Looking at the front of the car would be the left side, the side that goes to the throttle body (cold side). The end of the intercooler where the boost pipe clamp too is usually thick enough to drill and tap for the boost reference.

Thanks mike I appreciate it
