Twin scroll

Why aren't we using twin scroll turbos? I've read that its partly because the exhaust pulses are too far apart to contribute any real advantage. I know cost is part of it also, so lets not flood this thread with cost comments. Are they just generally too big for our engines? What's the theory here.

In for links to gt-28 framed twin scroll turbos.

besides, v-banding > twin scrolling.

The world doesn't revolve around GT28 series turbos....

<-- faster than spec miatas and never had a bolt issue. It's the vertical manifolds... I'm fairly sure of it. :p :p Thus... v-banding doesn't triumph over all especially considering the cost. Don't get me wrong.. i LOVE vbands... but they are a premium option.

Evo 8 16gs would be a fun miata turbo. Built 1.6s and 1.8s could have fun with twin scroll Holset HX35ws on the cheap.

Typically though... not a ton of twin scroll options that suit this engine size... I can agree with that (as inferred by Hustlers post).

I was thinking a 52 trim GT3071R with the divided .69 A/R GT32 exhaust housing. Great spool and most likely good top end. At least better that the 28 series. Again I'm just looking for theory at this point, not trying to accomplish any of this. I'll have to look at those HX35's.

ATP makes a twin scroll GT3076. It spools as good as a GT3071 with better top end (from what I've seen on MR2 Turbos). I've never seen a GT3071 twin scroll. From what I've heard, its not as easy to make a turbo twin scroll by just changing out the housings, but someone at ATP maybe able to answer that better than me.
