type rs knockoff bov dead, who likes ssqv?
I just wanted to know if anyone has any quoms with the hks ssqv v3 bov. I have been using an ebay knockoff type rs bov and it did the job for a while but now it's leaking pretty bad at idle and I have to give the car gas to keep it from dying. Classy, I know. Anyone used or have any experience with the HKS bov's?

Set it and forget it. |
Agree with Hustler on the Tial. They are worth every penny.

I had an older ssqv and it worked great. A little on the noisy side though. If you're in and out of boost all the time I would look for something quieter.. just my 2 cents.

I didn't like mine. What do you mean you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep the car from dying, sounds like you have a problem with your tune or your not running the proper engine management to be using a VTA BOV.
|
the leaking bov is after the afm so there is unmetered air going in the engine without any fuel to compensate. My lame fmu setup is to blame. I didn't have this problem before as my afm was after the bov with my previous intercooler setup. I know I need a proper fuel management system but money to pay for school > money towards car. How much do the tial bov's run?

TiALS are expensive.
If you have an AFM you need to recirculate. Plain and simple. So if you don't plan on upgrading to speed density any time soon an atmospheric bov is FAIL and your car running like shit is 100% your fault. |

Get the gold spring. |
Noted. Thanks guys.

If youre on a budget look for deals and buy used. I just picked up a tial bov for $130 shipped in great condition. Honda-tech.com classifieds are a great place to search for deals.

Tial is a great way to go. They work best with a vacuum signal from a large port and quality vacuum hose that won't easily collapse.
They sound like a whip cracking when venting a lot of pressure. |
Ive used Greddy RS, HKS SSQV's and Synapse Synchronic bov's.
I prefer the sound of the HkS and Synapse. Both hold pressure well and Ive never had any problems with them. |
i use the synapse with the anti stall valve, i love it. never had an issue.

I have a forge bov,and after i relocated the air intake, the maf came to close to the turbine so i had the same problem with TheMcCoy14 on idle, rpm goes to 400 for 2 secs or less and then back to normal. One cheap and fast solution is a closed loop bov from vag group or colt czt.:bigtu:

You know you could almost build a MS for the cost of a new TiAL BOV and you would be way better off at that point.
|
Or just open the Ebay one... lube the piston and it'll probably work fine for a long time.
|
I had a ebay hks and it gave me 0 problems.
|
They actually have the real HKS ones up there now like $75 shipped.
