V band and 1.8NA flange

Hi,

It's almost impossible to find any drawing of the exhaust flange for our 1.8NA. There is one available in one thread but the measure are not good. I think Turbotim said he has it and I sent him a pm but got no reply. Does anyone else has it? I have access to a laser cutter so I don't feel paying 90$ plus shipping for a weirtech flange. I'd buy from Tim, his price is good but the shipping to Canada would surely kills the bargain.

Secondly, I would like to know what type of V band you guys use and where you buy them? We use sanitary grade V band where I work but it uses a viton gasket and I'm not sure it would stand the heat of exhaust gases. I know there's cheap ebay option, but I want something that seals well and I can't find Tial anywhere.

Thanks

Ahh yeah I forgot to reply to you. I'm absent minded. I don't have the cad file on my laptop but I can get it for you sometime, if I remember. the squeaky wheel...

I use vibrant vband flanges because they have a male/female side to the flanges so they seal very well and are easy to align properly, and the clamp is all stainless and has a trick quick disconnect feature, and the locknut is not a nylock (sorta like the tial). My price on the tial version is the same as my price on the vibrants, and the tials don't have the trick quick disconnect so that's why I go with the vibrant (tials do have a male/female style too). Plus I don't pay for shipping on the vibrants. But both the tial and vibrant parts are much more expensive than other available vband clamps (ebay, ATP, etc).

email me at tim at absurdflow dot com and I'll reply with the cad file.

EDIT: I have the .dxf I sent my local water jetter in my gmail as an attachment. Email me at the above and I'll forward it to you. I assume you want a .dxf?

And weirtech flanges are $20 or so.

USPS flatrate boxes are relatively inexpensive for shipping internationally. Unfortunately a single flange cost the same as a full manifold, top portion of downpipe, 120deg bend, & a bunch of hardware as it goes by box size.

Ok thanks Tim, that's are good answers! For the file, I'll take the CAD as I'm not totally sure what software the guy who operates the cutter use. With your permission I'll make it available on the forum so everyone have it.

I'll check out Vibrant clamp.

For the price I mentionned, I was talking about the SS flange.

Edit: It seems like OBX makes dirt cheap V band assembly with the male/female flanges. Dunno about the quality but at 35 bucks/assembly, I'm tempted to try those and if they sucks, it wouldn't be a great loss.

Mastercam takes dxf files however cad can translate to dxf and back to dwg so it makes no difference.

Boing.

Bolt holes are oversized, I'm going to tighten them up on the next batch along with a few other changes but this is a basic copy of a Weirtech flange. I've Faro'ed a '99 head and some of the dimensions are slightly different but within the fuzzzz.

I have cheap v-bands leaks, Tim speaks the truth on the need for vibrant or tial stuffs.

Alkoran 12-19-2010 01:09 PM

Thanks Tim! There won't be any more topics asking it now!

Hustler, when you talk of cheap bands that leaked, did they have the male/female grooving or they were the usual flat one?
