Vacuum line routing, stoopid question
 

Quick question,
I'm in the process of installing my MS2E from Reverent onto my 1997 miata with ps and ac.
Most of the guys will use the unused A/C ports, on their non A/C cars, to route the vacuum line for the MAP sensor through the firewall on the passenger side.
Given that my car is equipped with such luxuries, as far as i can see, I only have two options, route through the driver's side OR drill new hole and use a nice rubber plug.

Right?

How did you guys do it?

If you're careful you can go through it still, beside the line. (at least on an NB this is true)

[Edit] if you're using a boost gauge, you'll be on the drivers side anyway and there are harnesses going through there too; again be careful of other stuff.

There should be an unused plug about the size of a nickel on the passenger side between the main harness and the A/C penetration. Pop it out with a screwdriver, and punch a hole in it just slightly smaller than the O.D. of the vacuum line. Worst part of all this is that you probably have to remove the glovebox to find the damn hole to put the grommet back in. It's way up under the dash on that side.

On my car this was higher than the others and less accessible FWIW.

Actually maybe just the insulation mat was the problem...

I see that plug, need to remove glovebox and a ton of crap related to the a/c. Not feasible.

I used this plug. Poked a hole in the insulation/carpet underlay with bigger and bigger screw drivers and then used a welding rod and duct tape to feed my O2 wire and vacuum line through it.

I used that hole yesterday. Reused that rubber cap as an insulator. Car has started, now I just need to learn wtf i'm doing in ms.

Exactly the same thing I ended up doing.

And yeah, I am about 3 weeks ahead of you. Managed to not blow anything up, have open loop idle mostly working and the car has survived a track day. I think I may have finnaly kinda sorta figured out how to tune idle VE. I let tune analyze live do the bulk kf the VE table. Sorta kinda have Mapdot AE working.

Next, I am gonna try figuring out EGO correction.

Best tip I have is turn of anything you don't need to make the car run and focus on getting it driving ok. Then turn on one feature at a time and learn how to work it, then move to the next.
