Warping Turbo/Mani

What do folks do about leaking between ex mani and turbo? When I got mine, used, it was way warped, and someone belt sanded them and it seated up nice. A couple times since it's leaked, when it leaks, it warps worse, leaks more, etc.

I like it when I can't fit a .001" feeler guage in there, but the last time I had my mani off there was a 0.070 out of flat (I asusme the gap was smaller with it on the car since it was clamped.)

I had the manifold out for welding so he fly cut it flat, but the turbo must be out of flat as well. I hate pulling it, especially often. Am I missing something? (I mean, outside of better spool up and fresh air in the vents) I don't think grinding the turbo flat every three months is "maintenance"

HAHA turbo's suck should have went SC!!! Just kidding, I don't know much about snails but I know that's not a common issue with all manifolds. Sounds like you need to check the turbo flange to see if it's warped.

pay about $50 and have all your flanges milled flat again.

Mani's and turbos' shouldn't need resurfacing like that every few months. OEM car's don't need it and most people don't remove their turbo from the manifold unless they have issues somewhere else with their setup/motor.
I bet if you have the turbine inlet resurfaced you'll be golden, might as well do the outlet as well while it's out so you know what you have. The manifold might have been allowed to warp due to the turbine inlet not being flat so you might as well do them all.

mill it true.

I'd imagine if both surfaces are not flat to begin with one would warp the other.

Give me a buzz. We can re-surface the manifold for you. I would send the turbo back to Limit Eng. for repair.

That's like a million billion years without a car!!!

Anyway, the manifold was just done. The turbo, though, could use some touch up.
