Wastegate vacuum source
Im thinking about putting a fitting on my compressor housing for my external wastegate, so it would be like the fitting on a internally gated turbo.. Does this seem like a good idea? I havent seen that many people do it.

Mine is done like that and it works great. Shortest signal line possible seems to be the best route for most.
|
I figure closest to the outlet?
|
so is the signal source supposed to be from between turbo and throttle body and not from the manifold? if thats the case i need to reconfigure my setup. Now that i think about it, it would make much more sense seeing that boost wants to push it open and when i tee off of the manifold i get vacuum and not boost when the throttle is closed.

Definately use the comp. housing. It is the best and closest source for the wastegate signal. If you want you can even run stainless braid with AN ends and make it look baller status.

If you pull the pressure reference off of the comp housing you will see a slight drop in boost pressure but it should be more consistent and (usually) a better curve.

I have the best of both worlds. I run the MAP sensor that feeds my EBC off the intake manifold, and the solenoid that is controlled by the EBC is mounted right next to the compressor/wastegate can.

Hm.. Compressor housing it is. :)

how cool! I was doing the same :) |
The tullos has a Vac line going directly to it that connects to my manifold so it reads pressure there, then my solenoid is connected at the compressor and WG on the otherside as well. Same setup i guess, just no external MAP sensor.

nevermind, i confused my bov signal with my wastegate signal lol i guess im still pretty big noob (not to be confused with a big boob)
|
I have my bov t'd from my wastegate line on the compressor housing, thats ok right?
|
I dont think that is ok. I believe the BOV needs to see vacuum and boost, and since its pre TB it won't see the vacuum.

TheBandit is right.
Don't share the valves reference with a boost controller either, you can end up with a minor leak when the controller starts to screw around with the boost signal. |
