Which WBO2
Hey guys,
I'm going to be running a Link ECU Mk2. I'm sourcing for a Wideband O2 sensor to tap into the Link and I have this question: Should I opt for a Innovate LC1 WBO2 (with no display) 199 Or would it make more sense to go for an AEM Uego with display for around 280? Any difference in the 2? |
I like to have a display at all times. I have run the Innovate, AEM and Zeitronix. They are all very nice.
|
aem uego is designed to work with the link.and theres insrtuctions on fm site to wire it in...widopentuning can get you a wideband as well
plus if you install your link ecu you will have a ecu wire that gets removed from your ecu and gets taped over.you can cut it off and crimp it to the wideband wire and plug it in. |
|
The procedure for connecting the LC-1 to the link is the same as the AEM. You just need to use different target values, which FM can give you. Using the AEM instructions you should be able to figure out what you need to do.
|
the aem doesn't need calibrating. I have it and haven't had any problems.
|
Recalibration is a good thing. As the sensor gets old you can compensate for it. Also there is probably some variation in the sensors themself.
It's not like you have to do a lot to calibrate the thing anyway. Remove the sensor from the exhaust and ground the calibration wire. Or you could wait a couple of days for the gas to disipate from the exhuast. I'm sure the AEM is a find unit too. |
I've seen the AEM first hand (thanks to WOT acutally)
Gotta be one of the easiest things ever to install, two wires...the end (three with EMS). |
I've read on some other forum that the WBO2 sensors are pretty quick to die?
|
Not if installed properly.
Typically installed 18" or more from the Head or Turbo. Installed Vertically or as close as possible. ( I found this important... I had one horizontal to the ground and killed 2 sensors quite quickly. I rewelded a bung vertically and have been on the same sensor for 20k now.) Bosch sensors for the Innovate stuff (unsure what AEM/NGK/FJO/Zeit/PLX etc... use) cost like 50bucks from www.1stvwparts.com |
Ah! Thanks for the heads up!
My friend tells me it's technically possible to run both a WB and NB o2 at the same time to the Link? |

Yes, but there's a mod made to the ecu to run WB.
Apparently it's possible to run both NB and WB at the same time? |
I've decided to go with Innovate's DB kit.
Thanks for all the help guys |
You can leave both the stock and the WB connected to the link. Don't know what this will do for you, but the link does read them seperately. I don't beleive that the link will do closed loop with the NB at cruise and idle and the WB for everything else.

The same. $270 shipped.

What's the cost difference between the AEM and the LC-1 DB kit?
re about the same. Read on some other forum though, that the AEM's controller isn't anything to scream about and the innovate's is good for dyno but bad for street tuning cause it's a little slow. ah well |
Yeah, with the "Obiwan" Link ('96-'97)... it also does low impedance injectors and sequential injection :D

I'm on a NA6.
So, no Obiwan for me. But i do have high imp injectors and sequential. lol |
