Went to the track today

Hey guys, just got back from Atco raceway and im a bit upset but nt that much. First of let me say that the best time I ran was a 14.637 WITH STOCK EXHAUST AND IT WAS MY FIRST TIME RUNNING AT A TRACK. I made the pass at 95.58 mph with a 60ft time of 2.216 which im guesiing isnt good. Im at 8psi so hopefully with a nice turbo back echaust ill get low 14's high 13's. Still wondering how I beat the s2000 guess he wasnt to good at driving i dunno.

The 60' time was pretty normal for a Miata on street rubber, even my car with 296 RWHP still does 2.13 60' times on street rubber. The S2000 needs to be beat on to get a good time out of it. If you don't rev it all the way out it won't turn a good time. You are probably around 180-190 RWHP.

but i thought ppl with 180-190rwhp run like 13's

I ran 15.1 in my rx-7 with 95mph trap speeds. I don't remember my 60ft times but they must have been terrible.

Don't worry, the miata isn't a drag racing car.

A little offtopic but is that motor built or still stock bottom end?

Depends alot on the track. My 240 RWHP Miata ran 14.1's (with a best of 13.76@103) at 101 @ Palmdale. It would have been faster elsewhere. Same car ran high 14's low 15's at Grand Junction after dynoing at 238 rwhp on FM's magic dyno. (~200 RWHP uncorrected.)

Point is that you can tell more about power output from trap speed than from the time it takes to run the 1/4 mile. You're trap speed tells me that you are probably closer to 180 RWHP. My Autorotor which put down around 180 RWHP ran 14.1's at palmdale too... but trapped around 95 MPH. It had less power then the 240 HP FM-II but just launched better.

You should be in the 12's and you should be making about 250-270 or so RWHP.

Mark

(Guess, I didn't really run numbers.)
