Hello guys,

I recently bought a used Greddy turbo kit from a local for a fair price and was inspecting all parts look for any cracks and damages. All parts seem to be in ok condition and turbo does have minimum shaft play to it but guessing it should have plenty of life left on her. I did inspect the actuator that is bolted up to the turbo and saw that it was adjusted shorter (towards actuater canistor or nipple). From what i researched adjusting it shorter changes the pre load for more boost Correct???? My question is how to i set it back to the factory actuator setting? how many turns does it take from full pre load to factory setting get the 5psi setting.

It's going to be different for every car and every turbo. They were known from the factory to deliver anything from 4.5-6 psi. Drive around once it's running and adjust as needed.

I see, ya last thing i want is overboosting with the vortech fmu i have. definitely want to play it as safe for now untill i upgrade in the future.

Well, then screw it out first. This isn't rocket science.

Just adjust it out until the flapper is held closed snugly but not really tight. There should be some point where the actuator is loose and the flapper has some play and isn't all the way closed. A half turn out makes the flapper open a hair and a half turn back barely holds the door closed. That's where you want to be, anything beyond is adding "pre-load". Like Curly said, it's not rocket science, it only moves in half turn increments.

Something that hasn't been mentioned, the stock wastegate actuator SUCKS. My needle bounced all over the place until I replaced it. Found some generic SR20 wastegate I believe, rigged it up with one bolt like the greddy setup, and it held much steadier.
