Well, not so ghetto anymore... I think I've got a respectable product. The two halves are not attached and have some clearance for when the engine rocks over under power. The cool thing is that it goes all the way to the engine block, so no leaking around the back near the dipstick to fry the heater hoses. This is still expirimental. I intent to get some much stiffer stock and really do it right, with some heat resistant fabric and what-not. I've got some hi-temp brake caliper paint... thinking I might paint it black.
This while thing took me less time than the damn fuel pressure gauge mount though.
Reminds me, I've gotta get an anvil.

In the second picture, circled in yellow is where the bottom piece attaches to the inner fender lip. There's another similar bolt on the other end under the heater hoses. The bolts are OEM and used to hold part of the stock intake in place in stock holes.

i did somthing similar, but attached the top shield to the bottom of the hood so when i open hood the turbo is exposed . looks better than mine though.

hard to tell from pictures, but is the bottom section attached to the car with the top section attached to the engine? Are you going to use hardware to attach to the two pieces to each other? I would think they would rattle really badly otherwise.

Looks nice, maybe just wrap the oil supply? Or remove it, route it outside of and then through the shield? Looks great, you'll be amazed at how effective it is.

2nd pic updated to show how it's mounted to the car.
The two pieces are not attached to each other, the top is mounted to the engine by the valve cover bolts, and the bottom is mounted to the inner fender lip by two bolts in OEM holes.

I went for a short drive after the install this evening and noticed no rattling, and I've got an ear for rattles.

I hadn't thought about wrapping the oil feed line... isn't it pretty hot already. Is there a danger of melting the teflon line inside? I went round and round trying to figure out how to route than damn feed line... and the best bet was just to go under... then I didn't have to consider it in the fabrication.

This shield is just kinda proof-of-concept for me. I'm already thinking about the real deal. But it'll have to wait until after LC-1 install... IT'S ON THE WAY!!!
