Possible 160hp setup?
Hello there! I saw a posting for a turbo setup on craigslist for a t3t4 turbo, mani, down pipe, intercooler, FMU, piping for intercooler and bolts etc needed for installation for around 475. I'm just curious because I've been planning on getting a turbo for my '92 Sunburst for a while now and was wondering from everyone's experience; What is needed or is it even possible to get 160hp on the stock injectors? Also, I'm just using the miata for daily driving, so I don't think I need a EMU like megasquirt. That would be a lot of money wasted for a dd car. Thanks for your input.

Obviously you have no idea what the hell you're getting into. First go introduce yourself, tell and describe us what youre goal is. Second after everyone bashes you, go read the "ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW" in the DIY section which will answer all your questions.
Also an MS is in no way, shape or form a waste of money knowing what the **** is happening in your engines will keep you from ******* it up and spending more $$ on rebuilts, which likely will not happen at the level of power you seek, but I rather be safe then sorry.
In conclusion go de-noob yourself, then do your homework and when you have an idea of what youre doing get back to us.

Read everything you can on this site not related to suspension and brakes for a few weeks and your eyes will be opened. Even threads unrelated to your questions will contain delicious morsels of information that will be useful to you. Don't get in a big hurry. That turbo is not a bargain or a deal, so you are not missing anything by studying. In fact you will save a fortune in a very short amount of time.
The search feature on this site is very helpful as well...
Good luck.

I same boat as you the first time I turbo'ed mine, right before it exploded. At the risk of sounding like a typical know-it-all, do some research before you buy or do anything. If you just bolt **** on and think you are done, this will happen:
(yes that's two separate holes, one on each side of cylinder #1... there was also a hole through the oil pan from one of the six pieces of piston and connecting rod)
These are some things I have learned since being on this board:
1. Save your $$ and get good ****, buy right or buy twice.
2. Research, then ask questions. Not the other way around.
3. It is possible to do a budget turbo build, but only after extensive searching, reading, etc.
4. Hustler has fucked more bitches than you.
5. Research, then ask questions.
That is all.

Everyone that wants a straight race 250hp car, bashes the bandaids, with good reason. They need something more capable.
But for people that wants a more simple and predictable car, and just looking to out run the occasional mustang. 180hp with bandaids can be the way to go.
There is a reason Begi and Vortech still use them.
A idiot can install them, and if done as indicated. A CAVE MAN CAN DO IT. LoL
The car runs like factory when not in boost. And only changes when boost hits.
Once properly setup, turn key.
It comes down to setting it up properly for your needs.
A smaller turbo. A GT2560 will give you that 5-6 psi.

If the mani fits the 1.6L, and the turbo is good; Try to get him down on the price. He may or may not.
If you go this route.........Make sure you have a wide band. Set boost as low as it can go. And try to run 305cc injectors,. And you need a bipes. You can get them used.
You might can get away with it....Might not[/B] Just don't hold it to the floor if it studders or knocks.
I know begi claimed 200hp once at 5psi with a large turbo. If you go this route. you will have to tread softly. Until you know if the bandaids are capabie for the flow.
It would be safer to get a used Fm, Begi or Greddy kit. Any of these will easily produce +hp of your goal. You will have room to grow with just about any prefab turbo kitAnd atleast you can make a phone call and someone knows the answers to your questions.

Too advanced timing + not enough fuel + too much boost = Knock
What is knock? Killer of all engines.

OP do your research on the mani and DP, as for chinachargers have so far been reliable to many member on the forum. About the the Engine mangement for the power you mentioned you can get away with a fuel pressure regulator but I rather have a megasquirt, sometimes they go cheap in the FS section.
