Default Quick turbo opinions please - GT28 or T3?

I've got a saab T3 (.50 compressor I was going to mount up to an old begi/fm cast mani. Wasn't sure what to do about a DP for this set up. MX Eva just put up a Nissan GT28 with a T3 mani inlet. With this I could just buy a Bell divorced gas DP over the phone nice and easy. Any opinions about the GT 28? What's a fair price? She's asking $300.

Performance differences between these turbos? GT is ball bearing, T3 isn't. Whadda ya'll think? Stick with what I've got and send my turbo and mani off to Corky for a custom DP? (Braineack - they didn't keep a template of your's. They figure if I send mine in they'll keep that one on hand.) Done some research on the T-3's and have some idea what to expect performance wise. Don't know squat about the nissan 28's.

For me, it would depend on the condition of the turbos more than anything. Sending it out seems like it would take some time...

Yeah they jigged the DP they made for me. You just have to verify the wastegate you have is the same.

They T3 is a great turbo, it will spool relatively slow compared to a t25, but faster than a large turbo. I see 1psi by 1800RPM and 15psi at around 4200RPM, with a restictive exhaust. I also have a large compressor wheel, so I expect yours to react a tad faster. It's a great turbo, the charaterics work very nicely with the 1.6L. Keep it and enjoy it.

Thanks guys. Keeping the T3. Just trying to decide whether to tackle a DIY DP or sending it off to Corky. DIY I'm thinking modding a junkyard Saab DP might be the easiest way to go.

Pre installing stuff now. Hoping to be boosted around the end of the month.

Since he jigged mine, I'm sure he can send you one without you sending him your turbo first...as long as the wastegate outlet is the same. Standard shallow Ford 3-bolt 2.5"

Braineack,

They didn't keep your jig apparently. I asked them about that last month. They'll need the turbo and mani to make one up for me. Probably the smart thing is for me to bite the bullet and send it all off. No one's accusing me of being too smart though.

yeah, the best part is they wont charge you more than the standard cost...but add in $25-30 to ship the damn thing.

I did it...well worth it....
