Where do i drill my afm to "clock"?

ive searched and searched.. but i couldnt find a picture or a "how to" with pictures of where to drill the afm so i can turn a spring or something.

any help is greatly appreciated!!

you dont need to drill to turn the closckspring. just remove the black cap. razor along the edges and it will pop out.

flyineunos 12-03-2007 04:15 PM

where exactly is the black cap?

Braineack 12-03-2007 04:32 PM

if you can't find a black cap that's about 2" x 2", you got other things to worry about :gay:

flyineunos 12-03-2007 04:35 PM

found the black cap thingy. now.. when it pops out.. what do i do?
which way and how much should i turn it for 1.8 tan injectors?

You are asking for it man, you are obviously not using the search feature correctly. There are several posts about it.

The adjustment pot is behind the connector. You must pull the (2) philips head screws (there's (1) on each side of the connector) and the connector will drop free.

flyineunos 12-03-2007 05:14 PM

so the stock 1.6 afm and the rx7 afm is the same when you tune it?
i hit 13.something sometimes when im in boost. so i turn it counterclockwise 6-7 clicks?

oh, and at idle.. my wideband tells me that sometimes im at 14.7-15.3 and sometimes it will go all the way to 17. i dont get it.

flyineunos 12-03-2007 05:54 PM

anyone?

cardriverx 12-03-2007 06:07 PM

If you are 13:1 under boost, you are running out of fuel. The only thing you can do is turn down boost, or get a high pressure pump, or larger injectors.

Guys, just to clairfy, do you adjust the clicky wheel under the black cap for idle or the whole rev range?

Braineack 12-04-2007 10:51 AM

a little of both. the reason you alter the rx7 clockspring is becuase its too tight for our engine to read off of. we loosen it to idle and get the range within reason. this effects the entire RPM range.

there is a idle-mixture screw to adjust only the airflow at air, just like the bypass on the TB to increase the RPMs.

flyineunos 12-04-2007 12:55 PM

brain, do you remember how much to turn the clockspring on the stock 1.6 afm to idle 1.8 injectors properly?

Ben 12-04-2007 12:57 PM

There is absolutely no reason to touch the clockspring to install 1.8 injectors. The clockspring does not adjust idle mix. Search more. Post less.

how the hell do you get the little cap off to adjust the idle? Its that little half inch diamater cap by the outlet, correct? I cant get the damn thing off.

Also, what is a good A/F for idle? im around 15.5

1> with a drill
2> as lean as you can go before the car studders at idle or when you accelerate from idle 15.5:1 is kind of lean, but if it works, it's fine.

it does studder alittle when it is dead cold. What I want to know is why my idle is leaner when I installed 305cc injectors lol.
