Where does a 1.6 DP on a 1.8 put the outlet as opposed to a 1.8 on a 1.8?
I picked up a BEGI-S DP from a 1.6. I have a 96. I'm planning on just fabbing up a piece if it's near 1.8 outlet. If it's not, I'm only out 80 bucks.
Where will it put the DP in relation to the stock outlet? |
sell the 1.6 DP and buy mine! :bigtu:

get a 1.6L cat. profit.

should be in the ballpark but for the cat flange.
|
I believe the only difference is the location (fwd/aft) of the flange (and maybe angle). I bought a 1.8 DP for my 1.6 with the understanding that I was going to custom make the exhaust from the DP flange back, but I ended up saving the DP for my 1.8 car instead. I asked Stephanie the same question and she looked at the two and said the 1.8 flange ends up farther back (I think). If you are trying to mate to the stock exhaust, you may need a short pipe with two flanges to connect the two.

The downstream cat flange (cat-back) is in the same place on 1.6 and 1.8.
I've swapped in a stock 1.8 'downpipe' and cat to pass emissions with my stock 1.6 manifold before. |

To make my 1.8 swap with 1.8 DP fit into my 90. All I had to do was get a 1.8 cat. Both cars have identical exhaust once you are past the cat.
Like he said, don't doubt the :brain: |
Thank god for no emissions in Canada. I would just go catless and fab a piece inbetween if you got the skillzors and tools.
