Where to get turbo bolts
Stupid question maybe, but I haven't yet picked up on where you diy guys get your turbo bolts (to bolt turbo to manifold). Seems like it's be too easy to just grab some stainless bolts from homedepot. What am I missing?
home depot often doesnt have good metric stuff here but yeah that or ace whatever so long as it is heat rated and the right thread it will work.
I guess it is too easy. Thanks

I dont wanna hijack, but I also need to know where to find some turbo bolts. I need the bolts fot my gt25r that hold the actuator to the compressor housing, and also the circlip that holds the other end to the wastegate flapper.
circlip you mean the cotter pin deal just use some wire. take the turbo in and match up the bolts to the holes. as not all are the same or buy a big ole bag of bolts and figure it out alot of spare bolts on hand comes in handy in the maintnence and install process. just make sure to keep them out of the turbo, :bigtu:

I have used all of this stuff before and it holds up awesome.

My local ACE had 'em. You've probably got a Fastenal near you too.

Audi dealership.
they have the right size with and they're smaller to fit a 12mm wrench instead of the usual 13mm. every mm counts in those contorted spaces! They are copper clad M8x1.25 "jet nuts" which are the squished ones that are self locking -- even under heat cycling. I recommend you buy a buttload just for kicks. Wideopen: what head size are ATP's? |
I think they are 12mm as well. ATP originally got started doing VW turbo stuff.
Lowes and Home Depot had circlips. I drop them on the floor and lose them whenever I take off the WG can.
gpopshop sells all the bolts at a very reasonable price... I think I paid about $5 for all of them.
Ace Hardware, Sears, Lowes all sell them. Labeled "automotive studs" in the nuts and bolts sections.
