Default Help with Bipes please

I installed my Bipes ACU in my '96 this afternoon, following the instructions. When I got it all connected, I turned the key and all I got was cranking, the engine won't start. With key on, all lights on Bipes are lighted, no matter what display mode it's in.

I tried hooking the two CAS wires into the CAS IN on the Bipes, but still only cranking.

I hooked my CAS wires back together as they were stock, to bypass the Bipes, and the car starts, but idles very rough, and smokes a little.

I also got a P0340 CEL, Crank Position Sensor System Malfunction.

Does this mean I have to replace my CAS???

**EDIT** CEL went away, car still idles like crap, but acts normal with throttle **EDIT**

Make sure your conections are tight ESPECIALLY the main plug from the box!

I had trouble with this for a long time before i realized what it was.

Goodluck!

This might help https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2597

Check that you didn't reverse the CAS-in CAS-out wiring. It could be that you have them backwards... car won't start, but will turn over with it configured like that....

Well, I figured it out....

I had the Bipes turned upside down so that I wouldn't get confused by up being off, and down being on with those switches. Thing is, I then put all the wires in backwards.

Once I finally figured that out, car runs like a dream.

Thanks guys!

hi there... I have a question completely out of scope but what made you choose the bipes over an e-manage? thanks for helping out a newbie!

Cheaper, easier to install, doesn't require a computer
