Default About to do Bosch BOV recirculation but...

From what I'm told, the Bosch BOV has a 1" inlet and outlet. So I'll replace my current eBay BOV with the Bosch one, and then connect the 1" heater hose, but how do I tap into the pipes after the MAF? Do you guys just drill a hole and then weld in a 1" bung? Because I don't have a welder or any welding skills and I'm not quite sure what to do. I'd like to order parts this week so I can complete this project this weekend.

Why not just drill a hole, tap it and then screw in a brass fitting?

Take the money you'd spending on fittings and put it toward MS.

I could look into that. I'd have to buy a tap then.

And now the advice you really need.

Read here more.

And get an exhaust shop to weld a fitting on for like 5 bucks.

I lurk quite a bit here. I can check with a local exhaust shop to see what they can do.

Cut a 1" long piece of 1" dia pipe. Take off pipe where you want it welded. Drill the correct size hole in the spot chosen. Align the 1" piece how you want it and shape the bottom of it so it fits good. Once it matches up good, take a bolt with a big washer, put it through the piece, then put it in the hole you drilled and fixed up, on the inside tighten it up with a screw so it stays in place. Walk up to your local exhaust shop. While they are welding ask how much it would cost to weld it around the little pipe there. A lot of the pops shops wont even charge you. It literally takes 20-30 seconds to weld it. Pop on the clamp and weld away.

Okay, that sounds like something that would work. Should the hole that I'm drilling in the current piping be just under 1", or can it be smaller? I'm not sure if it matters or not.

Here is my set up using a forge valve (similar fitting to bosch)

Weld 1" SS pipe at the throttle body inlet and 1" alloy pipe welded into the cast greddy intake. welding cost me $20.

I would make the hole bit bigger diameter than the ID of the 1" pipe you have so you dont have a lip in the way. Just dont make it so much to where the 1" pipe goes inside the hole since then you'll be blocking the flow to the turbo.

True because you don't want it to re-meter the air.

Alright, my plan is to cut off a 1" piece of 1" ID pipe, shape it correctly, and then JB Weld it onto the pipe. I've been told that the JB Weld will be strong enough. If this doesn't work I'll have to go with plan B.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Man the jb weld is going to cost almost as much as getting it properly welded, except it is going to look like *** and might fail. Do it right.

What happens if bits of broken JB weld finds it's way into you intake/turbo

MS can be had for 400ish in the classifieds if you wait around. I can help you tune, since you're in WI. What part? We could meet up halfway and tune it up. I tuned mine on the road, and while I'm probably sacrificing a couple horses because of it, it's been running safely for a year.

Alright, I'll see if I can have a friend weld it up for me. I would have to agree with you on this one.

Wouldn't want that happening for sure, I'll probably get it welded from a friend then if I can do so.

I'd have to wait for summer until I can get the cash for it, but I'd love help with tuning it. That's one of the main reason I'm avoiding it. It seems like there is many different kinds of MS's though, which kind should I be looking into getting? I don't know crap about them, straight up honest. But I know when I do get a MS I want to be able to turn the boost up to about 15 psi, and for that I believe I'd need new injectors as well. I'm in the Fox Valley area (Appleton), not quite sure how far that is away from you but I would meet up. I'm about 30 mins south of Green Bay.

You want an MS-II that was built correctly. You need to be aware that you might have to revert back one day a year to pass emissions.
