Why are Tial WG and BOVs unadjustable??
 

Why are Tial Wastegates and BOVs unadjustable? What's up with that? It seems that makes them inferior products to other WGs and BOVs. :td:

They have springs that you can swap out....you didn't know that?

yes they have springs you can swap but other wgs and bovs have preload adjustment... so if they're not inferior what are they slos13? middling?

Pretty sure my tial WG and BOV are badass. Put in the lowest springs you might need, and turn the boost up and forget about it.
If you don't like them you can mail them to me, i will take that inferior product off your hand without bitching a word.

Chinese ipods have an FM tuner and a bunch of other bells and whistles that real ipods don't have. Doesn't make real ipods inferior. :ugh2:

Why are they the benchmark? Simple design with few/no parts to fail?

The only wastegate I can think of off the top of my head with an adjustment is the Turbonetic Deltagate. Its not a piece you want controlling your boost. I'd call it the Ford of Wastegates. The Tial BOV with the -9 psi spring is simply perfect on a Miata if you can VTA(I ran mine VTA on stock management for a bit and it actually did pretty well) The key thing is taking the vacuum signal or it from a large port on the intake manifold. I'm not the only member on here who has found the Tial to work perfect once the much too small vacuum ports are removed from the stock intake manifold and larger ones installed.

Hmm i have the -11psi spring and it surges a little before venting. I'll try the -9.

Do the vacuum port mods first.
Remove the intake manifold. Pull out the much too small pressed in vacuum nipples. Drill and tap the remaining hole 1/8" NPT. Go to the hardware store and get some 1/8" Npt male fittings with a larger barbed nipple on the other end.

how about adding a vac distribution block to the brake source at the back of the mani?

Synapse Engineering makes a pretty neat wastegate that is adjustable, based on how you connect your vacuum lines.

I like TiAL wastegates, I just think they are overpriced. Plus they raised their pricing again recently, which makes it even worse.

Hmm? Are these nipples the metal copperish pipes that the lines are attached to? Or are they rubber? Any pics? I'm looking at my UIM now and I don't see what I'm supposed to pull out.

I also just teed off the brake vacuum line. It's a bit better now.

Yes the super tiny ports on the intake manifold. I think there is a larger one on the rear. Use that one or go with a vacuum manifold fed from that port like Ben suggested.
