Will this turbo work ok?
Hi,
I was thinking about using a T25 for my turbo on my 1.8 and I just thought of a cheap car to take it off. In the UK you get the Rover 220, 420, 620 and 820 all with the same 2.0 turbo engine, with the turbo being a T25. I have had a search and couldn't find any info on here, but I have found the specs for the wheels on a parts website. I don't know how to interpret the numbers though so if possible is anyone be able to tell me whether it has suitable specs? Compressor Wheel, Garrett - TB2555 Many thanks. Edit - Trying to find turbine wheel as we speak, also found out the A/R which is 0.49. |
If you really want to know...find and plot a compressor flow map.
Find the map, calculate what your flow rates are for 3000rpm and 7000rpm for a given pressure ratio(whatever you plan on running) and draw a straight line connecting those two points. If this line "goes through the center of the island" you're fine as long as the upper rpm point isn't against a surge line, in some really low efficiency, or a really high compressor wheel speed. |
you shouold be fine and that should spool on your car.

gospeed81,
Thanks :), seem to be struggling to find anymore info though. :( Will carry on looking. |
Yeah, I did a quick look, didn't find a whole lot.
If you can't find it, find something with the same trim numbers and turbine in a T25 (should be damn easy) and work off of that. |
Yeah, also what parts are the important bits to measure? I may know someone who has as broken one.
|
It almost looks like a T2 in size...kinda small, but some of us still go fast with small turbos ;P
You would also want to measure the turbine wheel inducer and exducer. Then look for a map with those wheel sizes in a T25 housing. Here's a start: Turbo Size Comparison |
Come with me if you want to live.
Turbo Size, A/R and Trim Post #1 and post #8 have good info and good links. |

holy shit...finally found it
http://www.not2fast.com/turbo/maps/t25_55_saab.gif Now follow sixshooters instructions and get some PR plots on there, see what you can run, and if it breaths all the way to redline. |
Woah did not expect to find that. Is the T025 = TB25? Sorry I am not brilliant with the code numbers. I will do that later today and see how it is.

Looks like it cannot flow enough for my engine that turbo. Was worth a try. :)
