Not unless you build a manifold that will position the turbine housing in a way that the outlet points down.

nicacus 09-27-2006 12:52 PM

dang.
I cant find a down pipe :vash:
guess I will have to look around locally

Braineack 09-27-2006 01:11 PM

this is what im talking about, this cast is similar on the new FM kits. The turbine flange is vertical to position the outlet down.

nicacus 09-27-2006 01:18 PM

and that one I showed would be pointing up?

TurboTim 09-27-2006 01:21 PM

It would be great if some chinese company copies all of FM's castings. hehe.

Braineack 09-27-2006 01:22 PM

It really just depends on the mounting postion of the turbo, say that turbo mounted on a horizontal plane, then the outlet would point at the driver tire.

So yes it will work, but only in relation to the correct turbo position.

nicacus 09-27-2006 01:26 PM

I have the megan manifold, so it will be on a horizontal plane.
hmmmm maybe I will get one just to see if I can get it to work.

nicacus 09-27-2006 01:29 PM

ok never mind it wont be on a vert horizontil plane, it is pretty much the same setup as UofAcats

Braineack 09-27-2006 01:54 PM

comparing this:

and this:

It'll point up and to the left, no fly.

nicacus 09-27-2006 01:57 PM

well shit.
where could I get a downpipe?

nicacus 09-27-2006 02:15 PM

how about this one? anyone tried it?

RusMan 09-27-2006 03:51 PM

Why not make a custom one?

nicacus 09-27-2006 03:53 PM

because I am lazy...

if I can get my hands on a welder I probably will...

magnamx-5 10-01-2006 12:43 AM

that is the magan racing dp the sell together all the time on ebay and can be had seperate for 100 or so bucks comeon man look up miata dp on ebay. there arent any at the moment but they will pop up eventualy. the prices have gone higher recently heck mine only ran 180 bucks shipped for the manifold and dp.

nicacus 10-01-2006 04:23 AM

yeah I saw them a while back but didnt have the money at the time, I wish I had gotten it instead of the intercooler....

I guess I will just wait around until another pops up.

I emailed a bunch of the sellers asking if they would sell the DP only and they all mocked me and said no.

magnamx-5 10-01-2006 07:48 AM

yeah they can be assholes.

What a bunch of nice guys.

Anyway, the mani/dp combos used to pop up like crazy as people bought them without realizing their turbo won't fit. The last combo I saw was bidding at 50 bucks. I shoulda bought it for spares. Anyway that has pretty much slowed, but when one does pop up you'll be able to get it cheap.

Also, the mani has the rep of cracking, not the downpipe. So, I would look at all the "for sales" for people scrapping both after the mani cracks and they change setups.

Good luck.

nicacus 10-02-2006 02:58 PM

ya most of them are douche bags...

Thanks guys.. I will keep looking.
