I can dig it, I like the V band exhaust. Throw a couple more clamps on the intake side though!

mikeflys1 11-08-2007 07:03 PM

lol i know...i cant weld aluminum though so i was pretty much stuck there.

Braineack 11-08-2007 07:43 PM

needs a wastegate!

SamS 11-08-2007 07:52 PM

You can see the actuator installed in the FMIC pic.

Braineack 11-08-2007 08:01 PM

ah! good eye!

looks good, happy to see another t3!

mxdrift 11-08-2007 09:09 PM

hey what size intercooler is that

cjernigan 11-08-2007 09:55 PM

I'll be doing something very similar. Same manifold and i'll be using a Vband outlet like that. Bum deal about the pie cuts. I want to find a super tight radius 90, might use a donut. Otherwise i'll just go for the pie cut, cheaper that way.

What did you paint it with? Expect it to burn off.
What kind of gasket did you use between the turbo and the manifold? Anything but copper is known to blow out. Even copper can get hot spots though and fail.

mikeflys1 11-08-2007 10:14 PM

mx: the ic is 28x7x2 1/2...fits it there perfectly too

cjernigan: yea that bend is pretty tight. you cant really tell from the pic but i even notched the metal behind to give me enough room. The gasket is just some cheapo spare I had from my escort. The same kind held up fine on it for about two years until i parted it out. And the paint is the high-temp engine stuff. I dont really expect it to hold up on the downpipe but i was just more interested in making the rear section blend in more when looking at it from behind.

cjernigan 11-08-2007 10:48 PM

Cool stuff man. Hopefully i can come up with something to make it work for me. Right now the tightest radius 2.5" ubends i can find are 3" radius.
Would you mind snapping a straight down shop so I can see how much room you have between the turbo and the shelf. My shelf is already hammered in a tiny bit but it's not notched by any means. I'd appreciate it man.

Any muffler or resonator in that exhaust?

mikeflys1 11-09-2007 06:21 PM

retro: nah but in retrospect i wish i did..the bish is kinda annoying

cjernigan: yea i'll grab a pic tomorrow

Rafa 11-09-2007 06:49 PM

Mike, nice setup! where did you buy that coolant temp sensor? I need to buy one.

mikeflys1 11-09-2007 07:53 PM

Thanks man the sensor is just a plain gm one. I think autozone's part number was SU109. The fittings are just 3/8 NPT from a plumbing supply store.

mikeflys1 11-11-2007 11:47 AM

There's too much shit to get a great pic but here ya go. At the least there's like 1/2'' clearance and i think the shelf is notched a total of a bit less than an inch.
